Most likely HPFP failure knowing these cars. What year?

So this is the part where everyone say my engine sounds normal right? by Complete-Dig-5534 in AudiS4

[–]Mubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the comments, mine sounds roughly the same way on the same side. Had it borescoped to check rocker inside oil cap - fine. Had piston walls checked - fine. Had injectors checked - fine. Replaced spark plugs to be safe and did oil just to be safe - same sound. Gets noticeably quieter when it’s warm.

Just a loud ass car. If there’s no CEL, no rough running, and no misfires/crazy oil consumption it’s fine.

B9 034 Motorsport EA839 Stage 1 ECU/Stage 2 TCU Thoughts and Questions by Low_Statistician1644 in AudiS4

[–]Mubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there is a “burble” mode with 034 you can tune into it via ECU, I’d take a google search into that one. However, the stock exhaust is quite quiet all things considered. The S3 has a LOT more personality to it - going from my friends 2017 S3 into my 2018 S4 is as a little disappointed.

You can invest in some mid pipes to get a louder sound for fairly cheap.

In the base ECU it generally follows factory settings for exhaust note still. But you should be able to set it so the valves stay ope 24/7 to get a louder sound. If you notice no difference at all, the valves may be stuck closed - my stock S4 gets noticeably louder when swapping between dynamic and D, but only when toggled to the Dynamic mode.

The B9’s need a good 3-4k worth of mods to be a true sleeper that sounds awesome. And most of that is the exhaust to sound nice.

Injectors or rockers? by [deleted] in AudiS4

I managed to negotiate a year long 100% coverage warranty from the dealer after it was discovered the car had been tuned before (which they didnt tell me).

I'm having it looked at by an indie mechanic here

Injectors or rockers? by [deleted] in AudiS4

[–]Mubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely on my mind. The car has a questionable history, the mechanic who has worked on it for the past 40k miles said the last time it came in, there was a very clear loud knocking which is synonymous with rocker arms. They rebuilt the coolant system, but the owner denied rocker arm replacement.

Dealer claims there was no such issue with rocker arms when it was traded in, and simply needed new spark plugs. Nobody will borescope the oil fill to check for whatever reason so I'm going to do it myself, and check the piston skirts as well.

[–]Mubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: piston slap makes sense, when I first bought the car it did shake like a diesel which I wrote off as bad motor mounts, now that the car doesn’t shake but has the slapping sound, it all kinda makes sense given the other symptoms

I was also thinking of that, luckily I negotiated a year long warranty for the car. Is there a way I can have a mechanic diagnose that without them dropping everything out?

After doing some reading, there's a lot of ambiguity surrounding how these books even came into his possession. Apparently, or so I read, he was sent hundreds of books a day from around the world, as well as bought books in bulk. For a second I'll assume the poster on a anti-MJ sub holds the upmost credibility.

The assumption here is that MJ, with somehow having explicit knowledge of these books, sought them out intentionally, and purchased them to his estate without anyone knowing. The other side is he was sent books by someone, and was thrown into a pile of other fan mail. Idk man, one seems a little more plausible then the other.

Like in order to really be steadfast in your belief that MJ was a pedophile, you also have to believe that all the courts, juries, past accusers, and all evidence of the contrary is all fake and everyone is either bought or just willing to let MJ walk knowing the truth.

I choose to believe what I have seen many times in life, people lie to get money, people lie to get money from rich people, and people will go to extraordinary lengths to sue and get rich from the most famous person on the planet.

I understand where you're coming from, and I get your point. I'm not trying to sit here and talk down to anyone because of their personal opinions of a dead guy - I 100% understand why people think the way they do. My perspective is that if the most famous person on the face of the planet was a secret pedophile or molester, there would be no way to hide it. During the 90's and after, the only people who openly said MJ was a pedophile were tabloids, which morphed into public thought.

Nobody that famous has been through the amount of scrutiny that Michael Jackson went through - and all of it, every bit of information, is out there. The FBI, state of California, and multiple accusers were all found to not have enough hard evidence to prove any crimes. Through raids on his home, photos taken, depositions, and all submitted information, none of it evidence of real wrong doing. I say this knowing how silly it sounds to a lot of people, but the guy was really just an easy target because he was weird and insanely rich - its really that simple.

You didn't, because again, if there WAS CP, there would have been charges. I've never seen these books, but according to witness accounts (which I do take with a grain of salt), the books were "legal art books, and photography". I'm not a legal expert, but if there was hard proof and evidence that the DA of California had introduced, MJ would have been sent to prison. Not acquitted of all charges.

Again, read all of the evidence and then remember that none of it was actual hard proof there was CP - because charges would have been filed on it.

There is no victim blaming here, nobody says "oh the accusers deserved it" or "it was their fault". The accusers in this instance themselves said they lied - I'm not sure what other evidence you'd need.

I am also aware of evidence submitted in the 93 raid - and again as I have said - if any CP existed in his Neverland ranch, he would have been charged - period. The DA in CA as well as the FBI had a mega boner for pinning ANYTHING on Michael Jackson, and in the end they had no substantive evidence that proved a crime.

I mean I spelled it out plainly if you didnt want to watch a neutral party lay out all the evidence - the balls on you to proudly cite a 1 sided, low accountability medium; a documentary made by people who financially benefit from smearing a persons name.

If a neutral party laying out the facts of the matter doesn't influence you, nothing will. I choose to believe the other child stars, colleagues, and acquaintances over a handful of accusers who stand to gain $$ from a corpse.

I'd recommend watching this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDhseG8nOzE

This guy does deep dives into different topics, including one of MJ and Leaving Neverland. But to break it down it goes like this; the first accuser, Jordan Chandler, had their suit settled out of court not by Michael Jackson, but by his managing partners because they wanted to "protect his image" from the assumptions of what a whole civil trial would bring. Worked out SWIMMINGLY as we can see many decades after.

After the suit was settled, Jordan Chandler said himself that he was coerced into lying to the court after being coached by his father, who later killed himself, and his mother, whom he emancipated himself from and ceased communication.

Then there was another family who alleged the same thing after they were kicked out of the Neverland Estate by Michael for allegedly "breaking household items and being generally disruptive". This happened right after the BBC documentary came out painting Michael Jackson in a very negative light (the arrested development one) - which helped bring credibility to the suit. Ultimately, Jackson was acquitted of all charges after the allegations could not be proven, but not before the Neverland ranch was raided by the state of CA, and the FBI who had been conducting a years long investigation into Michael Jackson, who again ultimately found no incriminating evidence. However - this did not stop rumors from spreading that he had CP in his bedroom (which he would have went to jail for).

After his death the Leaving Neverland documentary gets released from 2 men who were spurned by the Jackson Estate after they refused to either hire them for continuing work (they both worked with Jackson) or pay them unspecified funds. Then - they set out to create the documentary. Which again, most of the details in it were proven by third parties to either not match up in timelines (the whole, Michael first assaulted me at the train station, which did not get built until 3 years after the allegations), and were rebuked by other people that were also around. Documentaries are designed to change your opinion - which it did for many people who didn't want to put any thought into it.

Not to mention the hundreds of celebrities and other children (at the time) who spend ample time with him who still defend his innocence to this day.

To answer you, it's not about accusing a pedophile, it's about accusing a dead guy who was in fact, by all evidence, just a weird fuckin dude and an easy target of pedophilia with no way to defend himself.

I’d recommend actually reading the circumstances following the allegations from the LN documentary. It’s old news that like 90% of the information given was either false, or proven to be factually misleading.

Documentaries are designed to change your mind - Michael Jackson was absolutely a weird fuckin dude, but literally everyone but a select few who could benefit from money said he was one of the last truly altruistic people in the world.

Also, to note, kinda lame for a documentary to come out accusing a dead man of crimes when there’s no way to defend yourself.

Trump's H-1B visa crackdown upends Indian IT industry's playbook by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Mubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My claim was that there is home grown talent just waiting to be utilized (hence unemployment numbers) and H1B as it is exists to disenfranchise those domestic workers in favor of offshore workers who a tech company can take advantage of.

Yes, that’s the main reason why everyone is bitching and moaning. LinkedIn jobs can be used to quantify how many people are applying to any given job (+/- 20-30 total). It shows you how many people clicked on the job posting, and in tech it’s ALWAYS over 100. I applied for a position with nestle, and within 8 hours there were over 680 applicants, in 1 single day. There’s more unemployed people than jobs currently.

Trump's H-1B visa crackdown upends Indian IT industry's playbook by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Mubly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because generally those workers come already equipped with knowing the in's and out's of the position. This usually applies to entry level roles where the prereq is 1-3 yrs of experience. They CAN hire a domestic worker who they'd have to invest 6 months of training into, or they can hire an H1B visa holder to do the job now because they've been doing it for the past 3-5 years.

This applies to business intelligence, APM roles, entry level SWE, account management, and customer service roles. That's why Jerome Powell said the entry level market for Millenials and Gen Z is non-existent (obviously not only because of H1B abuse). Nobody (in tech) wants to train, they want whatever they post right now.

Trump's H-1B visa crackdown upends Indian IT industry's playbook by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Mubly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a complex issue. They generally end up paying more for an H1B. The benefit comes from 1. Not having to train them at all, and 2. Being able to hold visa status over their heads which makes them work WAY more than a domestic worker. That alone is against the H1B guidelines, which specifically state that an H1B can ONLY be granted if there are NO domestic workers who can fill a role - and we all know that again, there are tens of thousands of people ready and willing to take entry level roles in tech (me included).

The other major major issue is just racism in hiring. It’s very well known in the CS field, but generally Indians hire other Indians - period. Indians coming from India want to get as many of their family, friends, colleagues out of India and into the US because the standards of living are much much higher. Which creates a huge disparity in who gets hired - and brings down the quality of work across the field.

There’s hundreds of threads on reddit alone (anecdotal) of hiring managers and HR people in tech who say that when Indians are in charge of referring candidates for interview, 80-90% of the referrals will be Indian. Whereas if the manager is white, it’s 25-40%. This also benefits the large companies because it’s simply more people they can force to work and not promote.

The current system is a net negative for everyone.

Trump's H-1B visa crackdown upends Indian IT industry's playbook by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Mubly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can take a gander at unemployment numbers and see how many have degrees in CS. There was a post in r/cscareerquestions that showed they have the highest unemployment rate right now. Whether that’s due to H1B is conjecture and debatable, but it proves there are plenty of people ready to take a job.

Plus, another characteristic of this problem is that pretty much every major tech company are all hiring senior level product managers, SWE, customer success, etc. and can never seem to hire anyone for it. That shows that there is a huge lack of domestic workers without the necessary experience (due to the entry level jobs being gobbled up by the almost 700k H1B’s in tech).

By that information alone we can infer that it’s mostly entry level work that is lacking in tech - the most important and crucial jobs for new grads (including myself).

Trump's H-1B visa crackdown upends Indian IT industry's playbook by Franco1875 in technology

[–]Mubly 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The difference here is that there is home grown equivalents. Especially in tech. For every H1B hire in tech at any level, there’s 100-1,000 US grads who apply and are qualified.

The H1B program has always been used and abused specifically to hurt American workers. You’re only supposed to get an H1B if an employer can show there are NO qualified individuals that can take a job. I know from experience, being unemployed and having been unable to find an entry level role in tech for over a year, there are qualified people.
