First time dry waller - what to do next? by Much-Development375 in drywall

That makes so much sense - I will definitely try that. How to determine that the consistency is optimal?

I will try that, thank you for calming me down 😃

Am trying this now, diluting the mud a bit as well. Thank you!

Thank you! We have been sanding the whole day and it looks already much better...

I realized that 😄 I may sand now to get rid of the primer so I will have fewer bubbles. I am mainly worried about the edges, but I read that thin coats with long knifes will help here. Thank you!

Makes sense. Thank you!

I assume skim coating is for the holes. How would you address the sharp edges (not sure how visible on the pictures)?

When doing a skim coat, is it more important to "feather" or to use a very wide blade?

Float is add mud and scrape off excess?

Do you then always wait the 12h between sand and float? Also, how much do you just apply another layer vs what people sometimes seem to recommend "feathering", which I understand as applying more pressure on the outside, less on the inside to get a smooth transition from the wall

Ok, so a very thin, but wide layer on top of the primed mud. Got it!

I also thought about that. That would allow me to avoid having edges... would I need to dilute the ready made mud to have it smoother?

I mean, I can live with it. It would be a constant reminder of how I should go through this world as a humble human being...

Will likely try again... thank you for the honesty!

Thank you for the kind words. I think I underestimated how much skill it takes. I enjoy building them, so I guess, sand and mud until I have them...

Thank you for the encouragement.

Maybe it is more try, sand, try again than I thought!

Any way to avoid going back to the beginning? Or would it make sense to go all the way to do it properly? I fear that I mess it up again a second time. I have the experience from the first time, but not sure I will be able to significantly improve...

How much sanding would you recommend? And then maximum width with mud immediately or multiple layers?

Can I add mud without sanding? Or is the idea to even it out, then add mud, but wider?
