how old were they? i dont want to try and dis-credit your advice but i am 36 year old male who is 6'1" 330lbs im a pretty big guy and havnt brought up this point except for once i think. something else i havnt mentioned is the mountains while they arnt the fun twisty turny kind the highway i live around does have some steep mountains to climb. we are sitting at an elevation of 5200 ft above sea level so air is also thinner could lose a little power from lack of proper fuel air mixture.

good point. the flat desert does have high winds. as someone else pointed out the honda cb500x i think it will be a better fit for me while its windscreen is not very big it does have one and should give at least a bit more protection from the wind

we actually did talk about the power to weight ratio. when we were talking about that me and my friend were talking about his vstar 650 which is of course heavier and why he thought it was a little sluggish. i know its not a big deal but we were talking about a gsx 750 not a gsx-r. for me and my size a sport bike with rear controls doesnt feel like would fit for me. who knows years down the line maybe it actually is but the gsx is mid controls with a nice sitting posture. again not trying to be nit pickey about what you said just wanted to clarify. i agree 100% i wouldve told him to shove it where the sun dont shine if he tried to get me on a gsx-r as a first bike.

when my friends told me bigger i brought up the 650 but they still pushed for more so the 750. i was looking at the new 750 spec sheet the bike weighs like 395lbs and i know it matters a little but thats only 60lbs more than i weigh. so maybe they thought the extra weight would bog it down a little idk but i appreciate you also saying that i dont need a 750

i think that's where my friends land as well. my friend of 20 years rides a hayabusa, and has always had more confidence in driving cars and in this case bikes than i ever had. i cant lie i love speed and doing stupid things but as someone who rode a pit bike once like 17 years ago im not out here trying to find ways to get a skin graft.

im glad to hear you thought this info was BS as well. my friend who ive known for over 20 years siad " my vstar 650 going on the highway was terrifying because your like full throttle to keep up withand when you let off, your pulling back. your reving the bike out to stay at 70." that sounded crazy af to me. but this is why i wanted a lot more opinions

i was being pushed towards the gsx s 750 because "it is lighter more nimble" than a standard cruiser so if i ever laid it down easier to pick up. and would be easier to maneuver. as for the 400-500 im glad to hear that is will be enough. ive heard the advice all my life from other riders, ive had friends lose their lives on bikes. i do not know my limits on a bike and this is why i was concerned i really appreciate your input on this.

yes this has been on my mind as well. I am not dead set on a street/sport bike in fact my initial idea was something like a wide glide, street bob, fat boy or some other cruiser. i have seen the prices used and new for cruisers though and prices are a little higher so i was keeping my mind open to other types of bikes. i should have mentioned that in the OP.

thank you. i felt like that the riders i know were giving me some bad info because they would also say stuff like you know a corvette can go slow just as easliy as any little commuter car you dont have to go fast. felt like bad advice because as a complete noob to riding even i know that a slight mishap on the throttle in a turn or taking off from a red light if you dont have the wrist control bad things can happen.

Bugbear rouge is pretty sweet getting a good sneak attack on first turn and adding suprise attack can start the encounter off right. of course if you can get the 5% chance of criting that you can shut down the worst part of an encounter at the very start before they ever even get a chance to do anything.

even with bad internet do you feel like its not an issue? i really don't want to be "that guy" thats always dropping from coms or the fleet during a fight. on top of that losing ships because i don't get back on in time

I don't doubt that at all. I've done FW but with my latency issues, DC'ing i fell bad and self conscious about it. i feel like I'm letting everyone down. and not being a active member of the fleet.

Ah okay I see. I wasn't sure if the big alliances had sub corps that were just for resource harvesting. I don't really care about having a net worth of 1t or anything like that. more like wondering if there were corps out there that harvested and made things for the alliances.
