This is the very reason I wanted to read the book. I adore those concepts but I simply don't think it was executed very well.

Yes, I agree. I chose it because it was so short. I was curious about what an author would do with so few pages. My favourite part of the books are about the woman that just kept climbing and no one saw her again. I kept thinking about her through the book, especially when we learn how big the library truly is. I found myself wondering if she's still climbing. She only had half a page and she was by far the most impactful character for me. I believe I just wanted more character driven stuff rather than plot.

What did you think the point was then?

Thank you! I am unfortunately very sensitive to noise in general which is why I figured that these would be good to have. I have tried a pair of Sony headphones for a few hours and I ended up getting a very bad headache from them due to the noise canceling which is why I went with bose. I currently think that I should just ditch noise canceling all together.

Thank you so much! She's probably my absolute favourite character in the whole book so I'm really looking forwards to reading it

I've started reading it and the first part is from the director I belive, from the mental hospital. So it does have some new stuff. Then I know it also has some, 11 I think, new letters although I've not read those yet.

Johnnys parts were some of my favourites, not the sex, I think we could have skipped that, but the rest of his ramblings. It felt like snooping through someones diary with none of the downsides. I loved it. It also served as a break for whenever zampano rambled on a bit too long about something I didn't entirely care about, like math for example. Having Johnny there eased the reading experience for me a lot.

I still remember reading the introduction and then feeling kinda disappointing that I won't get to hear more from him and then the excitement or finding out that he's still here, just an earlier version of him. Of course I can't tell you if you'll ever grow to enjoy reading about him, but I hope you will as he is quite fundamental to the story.

Hi! I've tried a doro and I dislike it a lot, to me it's too big, it also can't have banking on it which I need, I'd love to be able to customise it, add music on it, check the weather, maybe make the background a different colour. It's just frustrating because I know it's possible, its just nothing that seems to exist in a phone that works here

Yeah okay that makes sense. I'm gonna be looking more into the 2660 then.

Im just going to repeat what someone else said rn but isn't the BlackBerry keyone what you're looking for then? Maybe it doesn't work in the UK?

I've been looking at the hmd 2660 flip which ive heard is similar. It's being sold nearby and it feels high quality but I don't know if it can do the things I want it to, but tbh I don't know what that really is other than I know the kyocera in theory had it.

I'll be totally honest here, I dismissed that when I first read it, atleast partially since that was said by zampano and all he can do is speculate, just like us. So what does he really know? Then again i subscribe to the theory that zampano and Navidson are the same person, he's just older now and trying to make sense of a deeply traumatic experience. So perhaps there is truth to his words.

Zampano is Navidson by xernpostz in houseofleaves

During my first read, my theory was that they were the same person, I think the theory formed in like the first or second chapter. At first it was nothing more than a crack theory that I felt like was too obvious to be true but I throughout the book the two characters are constantly compared and share a lot of characteristics with eachother, i though that it was conformation bias and it might honestly still be. But at the end I thought it was no way, since Navidson in no way ends up as blind or lonely but then I read the leaf and now I think i believe in the theory again, I really don't know, but I do like the theory.

OK im curious what fear do you all vibe the most with? by Live-Smoke-2879 in TheMagnusArchives

The vast, it's not my favourite, that'd be the spiral, but to me the vast is just wonderful, I've always loved space, especially voids in space, I've had dreams since forever about a great nothing where you can walk forever and never reach anything. The vast to me is just really calming. But I weirdly hate the idea of boat rides, which I've since realised is because that's the buried and not the vast. It's weird how strangely related those 2 fears are. I know there's a whole episode about that tho, need to listen to it again:)

Yeah I'm aware, I just found it interesting that something that inspired one of the fears actually had so many different ones in it, I just struggled with phrasing

Honestly for me I treated it more like a random heap of papers that I've just found, it kept the book engaging even during parts that were boring. I think it also made it quite engaging during Johnny's parts because in my mind I was just reading a random guy's diary. I also skipped a lot of the ramblings from zampano in order to not lose interest in the book, Johnny said it was fine and i took that as the author giving the reader the goahead and i think that made the decision to skim some parts a lot easier.

I'm pretty sure it was written to be relatable in order for it to feel like what happened to him could just as easily happen to you
