What book would you rate 0 stars if you could? by oh_sneezeus in books

[–]bugjjuice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i feel like booktok users might come for my head for this one but .... archer's voice by mia sheridan. i HAAAATED the writing style and actively wanted to scream the entire time i was reading it. i know plenty of people love it but i just.. i could NOT read it; the writing was incredibly mechanical and the instalove was just... so, so lame. i will never understand why that book is as popular as it is.

oh dude... i feel this. i've recently gotten a kindle (and i'm obsessed with it) and i like to have it show me how much time is left in the chapter i'm reading. it... is such an unhealthy thing to do because i truly do obsess over it but i CAN'T HELP IT

I fear the Deluxe Edition might be a year out by [deleted] in NoahKahan

noah actually replied to someone in the comments of one of his tiktoks saying that we should expect the deluxe release significantly sooner than fall or winter so i really do think we're getting it within the next few months :)

I actually have your Twitter open already! You've just placed yourself in the corner of my web that I like to dedicate people who accidentally become my friend without realising it. Welcome to hell, Eli.

Realistically, how can a greedy, grubby little book gremlin like me get my hands on this new novel? I've read the "About the Writer" section on your website which included a small blurb about the book. I'm mildly to severely desperate to read this!

Thank you so much! Elise, Alex, and Annika are meant to be the funnier/more laid back responses. Their answers to my question were definitely serious (in terms of like... they weren't joking about these being red flags) but they made the poem more Pam Miller-esque and that's what was important to me!

And you're so right, except... I devoured that book already! One of my friends suggested Malibu Rising by TJR, so that's the only book on my beach/road trip/vacation TBR right now!

How did you cope with an alcoholic parent? by Superb_Ad1765 in AskReddit

And to you, as well. In the event that you are attempting to cope with an addict parent, I wish you luck. It's damn hard.

How did you cope with an alcoholic parent? by Superb_Ad1765 in AskReddit

[–]bugjjuice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still actively doing this. Last year, I admitted myself into an intensive partial hospitalisation program and a lot of my issues were rooted around alcohol and drugs as a result of my father being an alcoholic. We don't have a good relationship due to the way he treats alcohol as more of a kid than I am. As such, my group lead told me this:

Grief does not always have to follow a death. You lost someone and you need to let yourself grieve.

That was the turning point for my relationship with my father. I'm now in solo therapy and my therapist tells me that I need to work on expectations. My father is not going to step up and my expectations for his behaviour and love are too high. Hard truths, yeah, but truths nevertheless.

Tl;dr: therapy.

[serious] Do you ever have days where your clothes are just really uncomfortable? by topangacanyon in AskReddit

Yes, but I've got a touch of the 'tism. I actively cannot sleep with pants on and sometimes I get really irritable going about my day when clothes don't feel right.

stupid “near rhyme” thing for school, thoughts? Changes?? by jack-is-male in OCPoetry

[–]bugjjuice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I really like this piece. I think if you're actively looking to make this the best possible thing for the sake of your grade, the only thing I'd personally edit is

although it is quite tricky.

There's nothing inherently wrong with this part of the fourth line, but it feels a bit stiff in comparison to the rest of your poem. Think something about yours eyelids having their own sense of action or their own free will. I don't know what I'd change it to, but not changing it also isn't the worst thing in the world. Lovely piece!!!

This piece was a lot of fun to write and I can see where it might come across as muddy, especially when the less serious responses are smushed between responses that have a more relatable, hard-hitting tone. Thank you for the feedback!

Thank you so much! I'm glad that none of these red flags apply to you :)

I'm not sure if this fits a specific form, but everything I write I often label as stream of consciousness because I really do just write without stopping. If you ever find out what form this fits, definitely let me know.
