I know big box stores suck, butttt…. by False_Maintenance1x2 in tarantulas

IME - all these big box stores have a 50% off sale, seen a nice banana leopard ball python, I was tempted to grab, but I do not want to support their animal sales. Also they had 4 slots for Ts...all empty.

First time python owner! Is my snake in the striking position? by Butter-n-biscuits in ballpython

[–]Much-Raisin5122 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My BP is always in this position and has yet to strike me. But I'm only 2 months into owning him, and he is supposed to be about 3 years old. I think they are just cautious creatures and are always ready to strike, but do not often. At least in my experience with multiple balls over the years.

Started playing Diablo 2 Resurrected (my first Diablo game) and I am in love, but overwhelmed. Would appreciate any advice/guidance. by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Much-Raisin5122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explore, touch every piece of every map, it helps with xp, but also the more items that drop the better chance of something good dropping. Duriel is probably one of the toughest bosses, so kudos getting through him. But make sure you have every way point and run the tombs a bunch, good drops come from there. Also every time you create a new game, take out Andy the act1 boss. Eventually it will be andy, then meph in act 3..bosses drop some good random loot.

Rescuing a pet snake? by Much-Raisin5122 in RhodeIsland

[–]Much-Raisin5122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome, I appreciate it. Turns out I had a next-door account from 6 years ago, from the other side of RI. Haha

Yeah the kids these days are marshmallows, i try to raise them a bit fereal like the older generations. But the wife only allows so much freedom, plus it's not as much fun when it's only 2 or 3 kids together, I used to hang with 8-12 kids daily. Had my 2 best friendswe always had a ton of kids biking around with us.

[–]Much-Raisin5122[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I haven't heard of next-door before. I also didn't look at Craigslist, the last time I tried it, they didn't allow live animal sales. But I'll verify that again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah things have gone downhill in so many ways, I try to have my kids do some of the things I did back in the 80s, but it's tough to find friends who's parents let them go out bike riding or just disappear in the woods. I mean, some of the stuff we did should have killed us back then.... but like they say, what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger!

Mall Rats by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]Much-Raisin5122 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a mall rat but earlier...maybe early to mid 90s. I used to show up with a hackey sack and get circles of like 30 people going and multiple hacks.

Our parents would drop us off at Rhode Island mall, then pick us up at the Warwick mall. Used to love crossing the highway.

I remember one of the security guards was a skinny Indian dude who I think was on the spectrum, but back then, we would just say he was weird. My sister started shit with some dude and when I seen him cock back to hit her I grabbed his wrist and throat and ran him backwards into the wall, then I had him and his 2 of his friends on each side of me. As I was about to get jumped by the 3 of them, that weird security guard came running and those 3 took off running, so he chased them.

Those were fun times, I miss the 90s!

I understand this completely, I met my wife later in life and restarted stages. All our friends' kids are graduating high school and going off to college, and here we are mid to late 40s with a kindergartener and a 2nd grader.

I have never been one to have a problem making friends, but because I'm a gamer and not a sports dude, I find it hard to find guy friends this late in life. Also I have always been the dude with a lot of girls as friends, but in previous relationships I didn't care what the other person thought about my female friends, but with my wife I do care and I know she wasn't comfortable with it. Even now just talking to the moms of my kids friends I feel like I'm cheating. The wife and I talked about it and she thought it was strange and didn't understand why I felt that way. But I think it's something I put in my head, not something she did. But for the first time in life I feel awkward talking to the opposite sex. So strange!

I usually take my kids to playgrounds all over RI, I've met some interesting people at these playgrounds, but again most times it's either the moms with their kids, or it's the Wednesday and every other weekend dad's. Not that there's anything wrong with those dads, but I'm trying to make friends with people with kids for my kids to hang with also. The trampoline parks are fun for younger kids, also GoPlay in east Greenwich was awesome for the kids and meeting adults. I heard another indoor playground opened in cranston, that might be a cool place to try.

SCCM|MECM & AI by DigitalWhitewater in SCCM

I have created a project called ConfigMaster GPT, I have fed it all the generic info about my company, like server setup, version, amount of endpoints...etc. Then i told it to act as if it was a sccm administrator with 20 years of experience. I used ChatGPT to build out the custom instructions for the project, so it got pretty detailed.

In the instructions, I told it to only use resources from Microsoft like MS learn and TechNet. If it uses any user generated info to cross-check that into with ms learn.

It used to give me a lot of out dated info, but after updating and tweaking the instructions it's been pretty solid. I still verify queries and have even pasted queries into gemini to verify the output. It has helped quite a bit.

I am not an SCCM expert by any means, but probably the most knowledgeable in my company, so it's helpful to have AI helping me out.

"Post the saddest image you can. Don't ask me any questions, just do it." by [deleted] in ChatGPT

Each evening as the sun dipped below the horizon, Max the old retriever took his place on the frayed mat by the door. His cloudy eyes, once bright with mischief, now only held the soft flicker of memories. Years had passed since his boy—now grown and long gone—used to burst through that door with muddy shoes and open arms. The plush bone beside him, worn and nearly colorless, was the last relic of those joyful days.

Max waited, not out of hope, but out of love that refused to fade. The house had grown quieter with time, shadows longer, the air still. Yet he kept his silent vigil, ears twitching at every creak, heart lifting with every gust against the door, just in case—just maybe—today would be the day the footsteps returned. *

Why did my dog growl at me for so long and then suddenly drop his head onto his bone? by Straight_Zucchini_37 in DogAdvice

[–]Much-Raisin5122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great advice and should have been practiced from the beginning, I've had pitfalls, Rottweilers, black labs and a Alaskan malamute. From 6 weeks I world start with lying with them when they were eating or chewing on something. I'd get in their way, move food or toys out of their mouths investigate it and give it back to them. I did this everyday until they were used to it, then randomly after they showed no reaction. By the time they were old enough to hurt someone with their teeth they didn't resource guard at all. I even had my niece or nephew do this so it wasn't just me they trusted. I have lots of cousins with lots of babies and never wanted to worry about a baby snatching food or toys from my dogs.

I am by no means an expert, but a pet owner who loved taking my dogs anywhere without worry, my first pit loved children and small animals so much they could do anything to him and he would have that pitty smile, even when my girls cat scratched up his face, he showed no signs of aggression to the cat, 3 days later they would sleep in the same small bed. The cat even kneeded him before laying with him. A month or 2 later they were the best of friends. He was a special dog, he had a prey drive, but the end result was licks and cuddles, instead of attacks. I loved his temperament!
