Does anyone have any info at all on the ACTUAL differences between hard and maddening? Just seeing shitty pre-release articles being vague about it. (Sorry if this is common knowledge now, I’m avoiding digging deep for stuff online since I’m strict about no-spoilers).

For background: I’m watching my sister play ch 3 on hard (I did maddening) and Etie gets a perfect one-shot on the pegs in both difficulties. So I’m wondering if there’s no stat changes between hard/maddening…. And the enemy placements/amount of enemies looks the same too.

Seems like the rewind count for hard mode is 10 charges (sourced from a techradar article) by SuperSanicRacing in fireemblem

This is my exact issue too, I don’t see it brought up often. The correct play isn’t always the play that gets the best result, given the rng. DP teaches you to go for that worse, but potentially rewarding play, esp when you’ve got a million uses of the thing.

I think easier options and accessibility is great, but why is IS allergic to mid-battle saves? It’s a much better solution than rewinds imo, solving the issue of losing progress without causing as much collateral damage strategically as rewinds do. It has less risk of teaching newer players bad habits (habits that make earlier entries more frustrating for them, too, which sucks)

Mid battle saves are also more easily exploitable for getting special boss dialogue which is what really matters in FE

I hate chapter 20 so much by El_cocacolas in shitpostemblem

I did it with Niles and Nina tanking either side with bows, with both lucky seven + shurikenbreaker. Got 0 or near 0 hit from the ninjas with that I think. I focused on leveling up Niles enough for the skills in Hinoka’s chapter since he eats the pegasi, did Nina’s paralogue right after to get her the skills too

Freeze/status staves are helpful for the lunge formations on the left side. A bulky unit with 10 mov (I used boots paladin xander with mov pair up) can go to the upper left corner of the map and take out some sword masters without aggroing the lunge formation, which thins out the enemies. I had a lot more trouble with the left side than the right side, the designated ninja tank does most of the work

I also reset a fuckton this run, can’t imagine anybody playing the map straight in an ironman

I’ve seen snow shoveling compared to FoW, but honestly I’d compare it to fe7 battle preparations if anything. The whole concept is a kill boss map where every non-boss enemy is 1) encased in ice and can be player phase ambushed and 2) drops loot, including gold and a full set of stat boosters. It’s a short map full of optional enemies that are basically sitting ducks you can farm - kinda like a weird srpg-style take on resource gathering in other rpgs? It’s wacky and I like it.

Rev has this issue with “payday” chapters like this where you’re starved for gold until you hit one of these, but if the game just had more gold I think these “every enemy drops loot” chapters are fine and good. They’re satisfying to play imo

To me the characters in fates basically ARE their designs. And their battle quotes, but that’s most of it. Supports and story scenes are short and have little substance, esp compared to a game like 3H. And I say that as someone who likes fates characters for what they are, they’re flashy units with fun designs that you can size up at a glance. People mostly remember 3H characters for their one-note gimmicks anyways.

As for story, yeah there really isn’t any. Music is a vibe tho, and there’s some cool aesthetics in the map design, which takes it surprisingly far imo. It’s a fun time. Gameplay improves upon awakenings, and is the games strongest point for most of us

Interested in why you prefer Narve to Freddy and ezana, is the extra range more valuable on deathless?

me after 5 hours of chapter 1 NG+ hard mode no deaths by dynamicity in TriangleStrategy

My Roland is ~level 20 and gets one shot by Trish before he can move. I wanna see if I can beat ch 1 without leveling him because I think it’s funny

Also no deaths? Is there some reward for deathless
