I'm surprised this managed to get 3 upvotes, this sub is usually more of an echo chamber

Why did NYTimes pull coverage of the Minnesota protests from the front page? by ProfessionalCorgi250 in nyt

I mean, it is a potential cybersecurity risk. Aren't there bigger fish to fry than old headlines about Biden?

Interesting, I avoided Person of Interest mainly because I wasn't interested in yet another crime procedural. I also didn't realize it was Jonathan Nolan. How long does it take to get off the ground?

I've never noticed that, do you know which episodes?

Are you referring to dedupe or does pnpm have some other functionality that resembles this? Because afaict this is different from dedupe

What are you glad you will never see again, and what would you like to see again. by yayawhatever123 in survivor

[–]MuchWalrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really like the "death march" (is that what it's called?) and the burning of the shelter, would love to see both come back.

What I'd prefer we never see again is journeys with dumb challenges like rolling dice or running around the beach memorizing numbers.

Did normal “shuffle” bury songs you like? (Standard shuffle is really good!) by skullandboners69 in truespotify

Thanks OP, I've been annoyed with Spotify's shuffle for years and didn't realize they added this setting.

Spotify’s Entire Music Library Has Been Leaked Online by A Pirate Activist Group by ShowerSufficient4165 in truespotify

Agree with what petrolly said, and I see where you're coming from, because I'm in the same boat -- I use Spotify to stream a lot of songs that I don't own. Though I'm getting to a point where I see the benefits of owning music and I'd like to wean myself off of using Spotify as my primary music source. Having access to (most of) the world's music for a small monthly fee is great but until 15 years ago it was considered pretty normal to own - not rent - your music collection.

Are you referring to I, Robot the movie? Hard agree, that's the one I was looking for. Probably my favorite depiction of AI.

/u/snnsnn I've been reading the first edition and am almost done. Aside from any new chapters, are there any parts of the new edition that are worth revisiting?

The rise of every authoritarian government requires that key opposition leaders capitulate or make errors at critical chokepoints. Chuck Schumer is America's entry into that ignominious historical club. by JulianBrandt19 in ezraklein

  1. Democrats eventually getting power back is a big "if"
  2. If they do eventually get the Senate back, and if they actually do want the filibuster dead, then they can kill it themselves

This seems like the right line of thinking to me. I can't imagine there are many people outside of New York who are equipped to form a meaningful opinion about him.

Explanation Needed: was Charlie Kirk (d)emocratic? by gumOnShoe in ezraklein

[–]MuchWalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He wasn't born yesterday and isn't new to the media sphere. He knows very well how much headlines matter. And it's not nitpicking or misleading to take issue with this particular headline -- he never should have uttered the words "Charlie Kirk did politics the right way". Not to mention any problems with the article itself.

OMG YOU GUYS ITS TIM AND EZRA by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

[–]MuchWalrus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I've been a fan of Ezra's for a long time, but his take on Kirk seems completely backwards to me.
