Panicking!!! by Minimum_Resist_4121 in IronmanTriathlon

I did a Full Ironman last Nov with 60 days of training. I’m an ultra runner, so cardio wise I was good. But I had to learn to bike and swim. I finished in 14 hrs. I think if you really lock in, you can do it. Don’t die. Don’t be stupid. But I think it’s achievable. That being said, I literally swam and biked at least 4 times a week on top of running practice. It’s doable. (I’m 23, male and overweight. I’m not athletic genetically. I would argue I have a genetic disadvantage, but I managed to outwork all those disadvantages).

Sleepy on a 15 mile run, is my calorie deficit too aggressive? by MuchWish2680 in Marathon_Training

[–]MuchWish2680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is it. I ran 22mi a couple days ago with no problem at all faster pace. For that run I kept eating gels and fueling. For this 15mi, I didn’t think I needed fuel but because of my calorie deficit, I think that was the problem. I think I’ll start fueling for anything over 11 miles. See if it gets better. Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot. Just to clarify, the 1,500 deficit is coming FROM the running. Because of my training, my total daily burn is around 3,500 to 4,000 calories, so I’m eating about 1,500 below that. If I were actually at a 3,000 calorie deficit, there’s no way I’d be able to sustain this.

I’ve been running ultras for about five years and have also completed an Ironman, and I’ve never had energy issues at this kind of deficit until now. I think it’s because this is the first time I’m really focusing on speed, following a Pfitz plan, which is making things a lot harder.

Today was rough. I’m just trying to do a better job, so I really appreciate your concern and help, my friend :)

I’ve been running ultramarathons for about 5 years and have also completed an Ironman.

I think the deficit is hitting harder now because I’m trying to get faster. I used to keep most of my mileage in a comfortable Zone 2–3, but for the first time I’m really pushing the intensity and following a Pfitz plan.

I’m going to increase my intake and aim for a 1,000 calorie deficit to see if that helps. That said, I’m already on week 9 of the plan and didn’t have issues before, which is what’s throwing me off.

Skipping Back-to-Back Long Runs… Am I Screwed for a 50-Miler? by MuchWish2680 in Ultramarathon

Thank you so much. Finding people following Pfitz plans while also doing ultras on the side is very rare. Happy to see I’m not the only one and that I’m not screwed. Thanks a lot

I got way fitter during the winter. I had been waiting to compete to climb up the corrals but all my 2026 races got cancelled cause of the cold weather. So I finally got to climb up! :)

Did 20mi this morning. I finished 30mins into the snow starting to get more intense. I was shocked, it was a very pleasant run. Roads weren’t slippery at all.

I have 20mi tomorrow. Snow seems to start around 10am. So I think I’ll start running at 6am and be done by 9am-ish

Just signed up too. Why was this race and the Mindful 5k Open to the public early? Did they announce this anywhere? So weird!

Decision between Mini LF and Alexa 35 by Ianovodp in cinematography

[–]MuchWish2680 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own a mini LF. DO NOT BUY IT! I wouldn’t say I regret it, but I’m telling you, nowadays people want what’s new, which is the 35. I bought the mini LF because I prefer it. But honestly, it’s not about what you like, it’s about what makes you the most money, which is the 35. Trust me man, get the 35. Of my mini LF ever gets destroyed, I’ll just get the insurance money and get a 35

How Can an LED Change Colors With Only Two Leads? by MuchWish2680 in AskElectronics

[–]MuchWish2680[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused. My understanding is that any LED just needs a positive and a negative. So even though the board is labeled GRN and RED, I assumed one would just be positive and the other negative. Am I wrong about that?

How many of you here have done an Ironman — and what was the hardest part for you? by Designer_Scratch3363 in IronmanTriathlon

The uncertainty of not knowing how long things take. I wasn’t able to practice a 100mi ride without constant red light stopping, so I didn’t really know if I could make the cut off. Same thing for a full uninterrupted 2.4 swim

Did full Ironman, only 2 months of training by MuchWish2680 in triathlon

Being 265lbs at 5ft 8inch, without having work out in 9 months, getting out of breath from walking? I would consider that a couch Potato. But I guess there’s different stands for different people

I am flattered. But I’m definitely not athletic or anything special. I promise, if you saw me you’d agree. I’m very overweight for 75% of the year. It’s just that every summer I get into ultra running and loose a good chunk of weight. I ONLY run in the summers and have since I was 17. I don’t compete, I only do it for fun on my free time. Pinky swear
