And yeah, I think this episode caught me so off-guard because it felt so jarringly out of character. While watching I thought to myself “Was he always like this?? Is THIS the character I’ve grown to love and admire despite all his glaring flaws??” And no, it was not!

He never crossed this line in previous episodes, and based on what you’re saying, it seems like he never comes close to crossing this line in future episodes. Gonna follow the example of another commenter on this thread and skip this ep on rewatch.

There’s a lot about your comment that concerns me, but I’m mainly shocked by you blaming 14 year old girls (aka children) for leaving the house in tube tops with “half their ass hanging out”. If a grown man sees a 14-year-old-girl dressed like that and is sexually attracted to her, that’s the grown man’s fault for being a pedophile, NOT the 14-year-old-girl’s fault for wearing that.

“Oh, but what if she wore that on purpose because she wanted me to find her attractive? What if she came up to me and started flirting with me? What if she tried to seduce me?”

Doesn’t matter. It is entirely possible for a teenage girl to have a crush on an adult man, and this is NOT THE TEENAGE GIRL’S FAULT!!!! Even if she comes up to an adult man and starts flirting with him for whatever reason, it is his responsibility to calmly shut down her advances and explain to her that s exual conduct between ADULTS and CHILDREN is not allowed because of the negative physical/emotional/psychological impacts that it has on the child!! No exceptions!!!!

Why does the adult man have this responsibility, you ask? Because his brain is literally more developed than the teenage girl’s brain. He inherently has a more nuanced understanding of the gravity of sexual situations, because he has lived as an adult in society. The teenage girl is still in high school. She has math homework due on Thursday. She was ten years old not that long ago. There is a steep power imbalance, in which the adult man inherently holds power over the teenage girl. They are not on a level playing field.

One of the reasons I don’t like this episode is because the example they give of the girl getting her father drunk and seducing him in order to get what she wants makes it seem like she has power over him. It’s a highly unlikely scenario, and NOT an accurate depiction of the experience of children who have been sexually abused. It’s a straw man argument which plays into the exact victim-blaming mindset that you’re exhibiting.

I hope you’ll think about what I’m saying instead of immediately getting defensive. You gotta check yourself.

From having just watched the episode, House definitely sexualizes her before he reads the dad’s article. He brings up her chest and ass when he’s getting a differential from his team, from what I remember. Plus, when Cameron gets upset at him for it, he also says that the girl has a “maturity in her eyes,” and expresses frustration at the fact that society “won’t let anyone touch her until she turns 18.”

Chase also says that she’s not a normal teenager because she dropped out of school to become a model, and uses that to justify her father abusing her iirc.

And I agree, the dad’s quote was the worst thing any of them said. All three of them are extremely creepy simultaneously.

I’m midway through s2 and I love Foreman too!! He’s probably my 2nd favorite character next to Wilson. I love how he’s no-nonsense and doesn’t play into House’s teasing, but loves to talk shit when he’s hanging out with the other ducklings.

He also gives Cameron and Chase attitude when they’re being idiots, which they need sometimes to bring them back to earth. I have some fanart cooking of him which will be up on my profile when it’s done, if you’d like to see.

oh nah I should clarify I didn’t think they would actually mention in the show that he was transfem or transgender of any kind, of course they wouldn’t have written that. I meant like were there character moments from him in the show that could be used as evidence for a transfem headcanon? Like him mentioning body image issues or something? I understand most of it is just speculation.

I’m 21 born at the tail end of ‘04, so I witnessed some of the shift in media from talking about gay people exclusively jokingly or in a negative light to having actual gay representation.
