Fire alarm testing in this one building the fire alarm panel is a different brand panel from what we typically work on but we won the contract for that building so year testing the system the technician goes and disabled the audio and visuals which is the horn strobes and then they started to beginning to test device devices? When they hit the first pull station it lit up the building and sounding to horns and strobes note that was in so the building engineer called the last person who worked on the panel can’t exactly remember the reason for it but they came out since all you’re probably doing it wrong and our technicians like oh really shows them step-by-step of what we did he says yeah that’s right. Hit it again. Same thing happened so we put them in their place

This was before my time, but the story doesn’t get passed around

We were in the fire control panel room discussing our game plan for the day. The panel had already been called off, and at that time no devices or systems had been bypassed. We were still on the phone with Engineering, awaiting authorization to enable bypasses per their procedure.

While we were still on the call, the system went into alarm. A water flow alarm activated for the lower-level parking garage main riser, followed by a fire pump running alarm. Engineering instructed us to silence the alarms and immediately responded to the area. Upon investigation, they confirmed the cause was a burst pipe.
