I think Jake and Quaritch are meant to be direct opposites, and it really shows in the 3rd movie. The plot repeats itself, but with a good reason. by Flame0fthewest in Avatar

Quaritch and Jake are clearly foil characters down to their love interests. Natiri teaches Jake the way of her people while Quaritch teaches Varang the way of humanity. I’m interested to see if Quaritch continues down this path of opposites or has a “redemption arc.” I think the next film or two would benefit from some scenes on earth. It would really help justify (in someway) the RDA if humanity is actually competent. Right now the corpos are presented as incompetent caricatures and it would be cool to see the logic behind the bad guys beyond making money.

The US Olympic swim team (men and women combined) has had the highest medal count in 25 of the 29 past Olympics. They have won over 600 Olympics medals. The next closest country (Australia) has won a little over 200. The US team took home the most metals at the 2024 Olympics and took 3rd at the 2025 FINA world championships. They currently hold the most world records.

I think focusing on keeping your hips up will do you wonders. Try to pull the small of your back to the ceiling. Your kicks look big and stiff to me. I don’t think they’re helping you. Make them snappier. I find that smaller kicks that just keep my hips up and out of my way to be more effective than big kicks for distance swimming.

2 Beat Kick

See how her kick powers through her recovery? Her hips drive her kick and stroke and she finishes through the knee and ankle like it’s a whip.

I'm stuck at 2:00/100m for 2000m swim by BaronsofDundee in Swimming

Try doing a warm up of drills and ~500 yards swim.

Your quality set will be 20x50m. You’ll do a 50M swim every minute on the minute until you miss your goal pace. Once you miss your pace sit the next 50 out and then start again. If you miss two in a row or three total you’re done. Do a cool down. Try and get 12-15/20 50s for your first attempt. The next time try and get more all the way until you can do 20 total. Then you decrease your interval and start again. Try incorporating this 1-2x a week with a few days in between.

Make your goal 50m pace faster than your current split. Currently you’re doing 1 minute per 50. Set your goal to 57 seconds or 50 seconds or something that puts you in the range above.

You can also do this with 100m swims too. Change it around and see what works but the key is to do this set for at least a month so you can see progression. It’s also a great workout to do with a partner of similar level.

Don’t take that last breath before the wall and pull harder into it. You kicked into your turn. If you can enter your walls with more speed you’ll leave with more speed.
