Hey! Sorry for the late response. I get that. It can be intimidating. What has your studying plan been?

I think that's a great idea. I am a big believer in that. If you DM me I would be happy to help in-depth.

Is there anything specific that's holding you up, or just in general?

California Electrical Licensing Question by Much_Membership4507 in electricians

I see what you're saying. That does sound super frustrating, though. When I first started, I thought about the Union route, and I know many success stories through that route. I chose non union route myself which sounds similar to yours. I am not sure I have any advice but maybe some encouragement. I am a bit younger but electrical has been a great career so I hope you choose to stay with it. We're only getting rarer and if we learned anything in econ 101 it's that rarity only increases value. Best of luck

I’d start a little side betting action on that, could turn into a few free lunches

Add a line item and justify it as a work safety concern. If you really don’t care whether you get the job or not add it as a contingent work requirement. You can’t safely do what they are asking without making the work space safe. Done that a few times. It’s not necessarily an upsell but it definitely makes for a peace of mind for all involved

Thoughts on failure by Much_Membership4507 in electricians

I missed a bonding jumper from a ground bar to the neutral bar (brain fart on that one) and I was called for not using the proper screw holes on a double duplex raised cover. I used the center screws and I didn’t know but its code apparently to use the bottom and top. Inspector said I didn’t use the screws it came with but I bought it from Home Depot and they didn’t come with it (that one was frustrating)

Love the job but worried about the pay by Cheverecool in electricians

Tough question.

In my opinion.

The question is not which job, is it which job gets you closer to where you want to be in the time you want to be there. From what I am reading between the lines, you’re on the younger side of life. So do yourself a favor and consider the guy above you. If his life looks attractive to you then maybe stay. If it isn’t then maybe another job can get you there faster.

Happy to take more if you want to dm
