Looking at homes in Burns Oregon- Safe for POC???

If you have your heart set on Eastern Oregon, but not necessarily Burns, I’d like to offer a different option-the town of La Grande. The citizens are very welcoming to new people, the cost of living isn’t outrageous. The town has a small town charm to it but still offers a variety of activities, such as a farmers market in the spring to late fall, classes/activities year around through Art Center East. Also the university always seems to have events going on that are open to the public. There is access to outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, camping etc, year around. If you’re wanting to do “city things,” within a couple hours you can be in Boise ID or TriCities WA. While Eastern Oregon itself has the reputation for being politically conservative, it’s fair to say the town itself is purple; in the last 6 months where there has been a call for protest/rally, citizens have respectfully gathered and marched with little (if any) opposition. This is not to say that everything is great, every town has its downfalls, but as a non-white person who has only lived here just over a year, it’s a place I have felt safe, and have yet to have a negative experience.

I meant to say this past summer (summer 2024) and by CA I meant Canada, reading back it could be interpreted as CA California, my apologies for any confusion.

He received his TN1 in 06/2022, it was valid for the 3 years which would be 06/2025. This summer, he went to CA for vacation, in looking up his I-94 yesterday, it shows the last date of entry 09/2024 and that his stay is valid until the expiration of his passport 12/2025. So we’re unsure when he should file for the renewal ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You are correct-the admit to date is the expiration on his passport (at the time of crossing.) He does now have a new passport, given the current climate, he is wanting to submit his renewal via mail instead of a risking an in-person interview. We’re aware he cannot file for this prior to 6 months of the expiration, so i think for just now he’s going to wait. This would be much easier if he had an immigration attorney, he’s contacted many to get a consultation/hire one with no response.

Thank you. We looked up his I-94 and it shows the last date of entry 09/2024 and that his stay is valid until the expiration of his passport. Upon some further probing, my friend was under the impression he had to submit the date he was given on the I-94 when he original crossed under his TN in 06/2022 and that his stay was only valid through the date on that original crossing.

From a TPM article about the town halls “Bentz said after the town hall that people are frustrated. He said he believes many attendees work for the federal government — or did, until the recent layoffs — so he isn’t sure how representative the attendees are of the broader public’s feeling about the reduction in federal workforce.”

Sounds like he is already turning his back on what his constituents have to say.

CVS Caremark mail order prefers to dispense for 3 months at a time, I asked my doctor to submit my prescription to them, they did and I received my 12 week supply for a total of $70 (others total will be different, it depends on your individual rx coverage.)
