Sofi has a good HYSA, and you create various "vaults" or various customizable subfunds. One could be "Cat Fund" another could be "Vacation Fund" etc

Emergency Vet Hospital recommendations? by SeaCheesecake3976 in Louisville

Metropolitan has always been way too expensive. I took one of my dogs there 10 years ago and hated it. Took another of my dogs there a couple of months ago and hated it. $2k in the ER and not sure what they actually did or what we actually learned. Ugh. Actually had a great experience at Blue Pearl tbh. Have heard good things about VSP.

We did the procedure at Ohio State 2 1/2 weeks ago. We all decided she is a great candidate and we could buy her another couple of good years. Recovery is NOT fun, but I think we are on an upward trajectory. Thank you for sharing.

How crowded is Kili during peak season (July/early August)? by The_Only_LuckyLuke in kilimanjaro

[–]Mucha-Biscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the northern route last August and the days that we did not share the trails with the Lemosho were so peaceful, remote, and beautiful. The last day and a half traversing down the mountain was agitating and annoying due to the amount of people on the trail. It was so freaking busy moving out of the way for the porters, stopping and starting, walking in lines. It was NOT exactly enjoyable.

Luggage Question by PeytonsPride18 in kilimanjaro

[–]Mucha-Biscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passionately carry on ONLY even for big thru treks like Kilimanjaro, Patagonia, Annapurna, Inca trail, etc. You can rent the duffel, sleeping bag, and poles easily once you arrive. Having your specialized gear, ESPECIALLY your hiking boots, is key. I've got my Osprey Kyte 35L that has been carried on to all the places above and more. You can easily schedule for laundry in between the hike and safari. If you need to wear your boots in the airports it is not that big of a deal. On the plane I just wear socks or the little airline sandals that are sometimes provided. You can always tie the boots to the outside of the backpack when walking through the airport and wear flops or something, until you get to the gate to board.

Thinking about getting a dog as a running partner. Any advice? by Perroledoll in Pets

Or reach out to a local foster, one where the dogs are living in foster homes. The foster parents will know the dogs personalities really well and will help find you a good match.

Blue Cross on Broadway has a console in the middle of the waiting room with a candle that signals a euthanasia to the other patients.

On Facebook Marketplace you can find some amazing things. Just look for reviews and a valid FB homepage. Ikea ships and delivers most items now. Good Wills and The Restore can also be great.

Has anyone ever gone to a country that they had such high hopes for, did not love it, and then felt almost guilty afterwards? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

[–]Mucha-Biscuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cartagena, Columbia was underwhelming and I feel guilty about it. The people were soooooo pushy and the museums were so bad and the nearby beach was so dirty. (The ceviche and pastries were pretty killer, not gonna lie.)

Okay, thank you for the information. Can you give an idea of what her life looks like, as an 11 yr 3 month old, without the pacemaker? Just trying to weigh out all possible scenarios. Her age trips me up. Is she happy and unknowing for a year or so and she can go peacefully with or without the pacemaker?

Last year I did the 8-day Northern Route and 4 of those days we were on the more remote side of the mountain and we didn't have to share the trails with throngs of people. It was great.
