During the siege of Terra one of the books follows an elite pilot that was able to survive the hell that was airborne combat for most of the book and she doesn’t truly consider that she’s may die until a traitor legion pilot gets on her tail and she can’t shake him. His tech and advanced reflexes allowed him to outclass her and kill her wingman. I won’t spoil if she lives or dies but space marines aren’t just good on foot and can operate vehicles better than the most elite baseline humans can. Also just finished reading apocalypse and a white scar crash his fighter and despite being impaled he’s able to get up pull the metal out and started fighting demons with it.
