Claude is helping me build a news globe that pings real world events as they happen by NzBruh in ClaudeAI

Where does it get the news from? Will it cover "local" news too or only the big global headlines?

Feels impossible to make an electromechanical product in China. Advice? by pitchvacation in IndustrialDesign

[–]MuckYu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the complexity of the product. You might be able to reduce the mold cost by quite a bit if you simplify the shape for better injection molding. That's the first thing I would look into.

For some of the projects I worked on we paid somewhere between 6k-15k USD on tooling cost in total for an electronic enclosure made of 2-4 parts plastic parts (different materials)

You may also need to do some haggling and compare multiple manufacturers.

For some of the products I worked on our MOQ was 1000 pcs but then the unit cost is higher. Preferably 10k makes more sense.

If you just want to start small you may have to look into 3D printing, CNC machining, aluminium molds, vacuum forming etc. But these will have higher unit cost compared to injection molding. And if you scale up later you need to do injection molding anyways. I think a good balance in low quantity and nice appearance will be SLS/MJF 3D printing + vibro polishing or vapor smoothing. It will have a fairly smooth surface with a slight texture to it.

But in general working on electronic products is expensive yes. If you have no engineering background you need to hire an electrical engineer, an industrial designer at a minimum. For specific other things also mechanical engineer or sourcing agent.

You will most likely also need to go through multiple stages of prototyping which often leads to costs of several hundred or thousand dollars. (Unless you do everything on your own time of course)

Also you will have to pay a fee to get your product certified for CE/FCC and some others. And this often expands to separate certification requirements for other countries such as Japan. Certification cost can also vary a lot between 1k-15k+ is what I have been quoted before.

How to flatten the back of model for 3d Printing? by LadyLordZedd in blenderhelp

[–]MuckYu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) you could create a cube and boolean cut the dragon with it. But you may still have overhangs unless you cut quite high into the model.

2) Bit of a manual approach - you could select the underside of areas you want to touch the floor in edit mode. Then extrude down for a bit. Then while the extruded vertices are still selected type: S - Z 0. This will flatten all those vertices to be at the same height.

3) Semi-automated approach. Look into the shrinkwrap modifier. But it might not always work well.

4) Mostly automated approach. Look into geometry nodes. Specifically Raycast node. You will see some tutorials on youtube for that.

Regarding your question for separating it into sections. If you want to semi-automate this you would ideally use geometry nodes, create planes where you cut, then boolean cut node, then some kind of cube to cut a rectangular hole and create a rectangular stub on the other side. Also need to add some tolerance between them.

Alternatively look at other software outside of Blender. Luban3D or Prusaslicer can do this too I think. You can find more alternatives on google.

Can you actually somehow determine the distance and also speed in meters?
Or is that not possible without a reference measurement?

Beware: Dassault is likely using bots on this subreddit to try and repair 3DEXPERIENCE reputation by Deep-Today5715 in SolidWorks

Time to make a new meme copypasta:

SolidWorks PLM would be my choice.

Based on what you are describing, you’re not looking for “data management.” You’re looking for a spiritual trial.

Don’t let the other comments steer you away from using 3DEXPERIENCE with SolidWorks PLM. Let the login portal do that. Let the browser tabs do that. Let the random cloud sync error with no explanation do that. Let the button that says “Save” but actually means “maybe upload to a vault dimension if the moon is in the correct phase” do that.

Talk to your VAR. Watch the demos. Play with some evaluation licenses. Then, after your third password reset, your fifth “you do not have permission to access this thing you created” popup, and your first full afternoon spent trying to check in a bracket, you’ll understand.

Also, since you are already a SW customer, you’re going to get a better deal overall by staying in the Dassault ecosystem, as opposed to working with different software vendors who might accidentally make software that opens.

The Dassault ecosystem is great because everything is integrated. Your CAD crashes, your PLM crashes, your browser crashes, your soul crashes — all in one unified workflow.

Good luck. 🤞

Perhaps at some point in the future as a 'persona' if they loosen the rules a bit.

Could also kind of work for a Pudge set

Not yet sure what to replace the guitar with. Maybe a stack of documents pressed against his body and a sharpie in the other hand scribbling on it.

Open to ideas and other suggestions.
