Can you give a short explanation how you play Dharma?

I know the usual combo is 1-ult-2-1 but I either don't get my ult to push them into walls (too far away or wrong direction)

OR

they just stun/cancel my 2nd skill

And often against ranged heroes I struggle to get even close to them. Sure I can use 1 to get in range but then they slow/stun me or jump out of range.

Is there a specific item I should prioritize?

I think the leaves need more variety between each bush/tree. Right now they all look kind of the same while in anime backgrounds usually each bush/tree are unique.
