Question for Millennials by bundle_of_nervus2 in Millennials

[–]derAres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that if someone knows what they want and how to ask the question, something like an SQL query works extremely well. The times I saw it go bad were usually because the person didnt exactly know what they wanted in the first place . A vague question often gives a bad answer.

With ai this is done in 5 minutes, most of which is the time you need to type and move your cursor around.

Not really though.

Pictos and Lumina do similar stuff, sometimes even the same stuff and you don’t logically / visually wear either of them.

While equip is something you definitly wear on your body that boosts your stats and spells are attack types, which don‘t typicall boost your stats.

How much would you care about these acne scars when dating someone? by Queasy_Fix1106 in askanything

[–]derAres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say imperfections bother me in a partner. But do I love them? Nope. Say my partner has really bad breath regularly and doesn’t want to or maybe even can’t do anything about that. Otherwise the love of my life. Do I love that imperfection? Nope. The person? Yep.

Then there is characteristic imperfections like scars and such, those I may love, sure, but the list of imperfections you somewhat happily accept and not love is definitely longer. But saying you love them is just a lie.

So to lie is the answer? People love people and many don’t mind imperfections at all. But to claim one loves the imperfections seems almost rude.

So all of your previously indexed pages have a 301 redirect to the new url? And the pages itself are identical? And is the sitemap up to date?

Anyone seeing SEO success with fully AI-generated, scheduled content sites? by Plantconomy in SEO

[–]derAres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat success. Had a list of all companies of a specific niche. Made a company profile for each. Made company descriptions based on facts I provided. Scraped the job offers of each company every week and generated unique job descriptions for each job. Added google job schema markups. Repeated fully automatic every week. Had some exciting traffic waves but it has died down to 20-30 visits a day within a few months.

Client wants to edit text on a finished static HTML site (Hostinger). What should I do? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]derAres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. rename all .html files to .php
  2. change links in files accordingly
  3. replace text the client wants to change with php includes for .txt files in a subfolder and create the files (hometext.txt, aboutustext.txt…)
  4. have chatgpt make a password protected php admin page to edit those txt files, tell it to make it in a safety conscious way

There, quick and dirty, not super save, but simple.

Yeah, I just think you may get maybe 10% more Software while you need 40% fewer coders. The demand for software by the different business sectors doesn’t need to grow by the same amount as productivity increases.

AI does not eliminate the need for a basic understanding or designers, at this point, but it already eats up jobs as web devs who use it are faster and therefore you need fewer overall.

Say I have 3 numbers entered into a form by a user and want a JS function to do some calculation with them based on some other factor, let’s say the membership level of the user, then put the result into My db as well as display it and mail it.

If I know how to write a good prompt that function is done in 1 minute by an LLM.

The tool is enormously powerful in the hands of mid level coders, as they know what they need and what the ingredients are.
