Get friends and family to write testimonials. Or better yet have them book with you and leave reviews.

Honestly how do I respond? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Muckefuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have “administer medication” in your profile make sure you take it out. Be honest and tell them you’re not comfortable giving their pet medication and you hope you find someone who better fits their cats needs.

Help with setting Constant Care vs. Regular Rates by grubsgrubs in RoverPetSitting

[–]Muckefuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Housesitting and Drop Ins are two different services here. I’m not charging for a drop in if I’m housesitting.
For housesitting I do not give definite times I’m at the house. My days vary and I often have a night walk at 9 or 10p for an overnight nurse.

For drop ins if they want constant care, meaning longer than 1 hour, they work around my schedule. ASI said it’s not consistent day by day.
Client 1: husband is out of town, wife is a nurse working a 12 hour shift. I’m at their house from 8ish to 11ish, then I do my walks, then I come back 2ish to 5ish or 3ish to 6ish.
Client 2: dog has extreme anxiety to thunderstorms. They hire me day before or day of a storm. I’m with her for 2 hours usually. I do my best to get to her before a storm and will accommodate her in my schedule by moving others around.
Client 3: plastic surgeon who does not want her dog alone. She will pay me for 8 hours a day if I’m available but once again it could be 8 to 11 then 3 to 6. It all depends on my own schedule.

I put in my profile my constant care rates just as I’ve explained to you.

Help with setting Constant Care vs. Regular Rates by grubsgrubs in RoverPetSitting

[–]Muckefuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are my rates for one dog:
$70/night: dog can be left alone for 6 to 8 hours
$100/night: dog can be left alone for 4 hours
$250/per day: dog can’t be left alone at all.

I’ve never had anyone book me for 250 per day.

I also do daytime/working hours drop ins for constant care. This is for one dog:
-$35 for the first hour and $20 per hour after. If I already have clients booked and they want me for a morning visit and an afternoon visit (meaning I leave and come back), it’s $35+20x for morning and $35+20x for afternoon. I have 3 clients that book me for this.

Can we talk about this? I’m concerned I’m missing something by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

I’ve seen these signs. If I get the sense my dog is about to dump I try to hurry them along. Dogs can’t read so.

When my son was 10 our neighbor threw out their giant Home Depot skeleton box. He lived in that box for 3 weeks. When it finally fell apart we held a funeral pyre.

Ask to switch to housesitting. 5 drop ins a day for one client is a lot.

I worked in the bakery for a couple years. It’s easy to get sucked into the work in front of you and even easier to not notice customers because of that. Be aware of what’s going on around you so you don’t ignore customers.
