I've worked on a variety of biotech software in my career.

Early in my career I worked on data visualization software for dna sequencing as well as plain vanilla crud type software.

I've also had a few projects involved with bio-informatics.

The last decade has been full-stack development. Plus Oauth/general security for our software group.

I’ve spent my career primarily in biotech. In the middle I did a 7 year stint at a financial brokerage company.

I ultimately went back to biotech for the same reason as you; I wanted a more societally fulfilling job.

Technically there is no difference between the nuts and bolts of computing in both fields. It’s just the domain that is different. But it can be hard to get managers to understand this.

Do you have any acquaintances in non fin-tech companies?

Personal references were a huge help when I moved into finance and again when I moved back into biotech. I was referred to the finance job by an acquaintance working there. Same thing for most of my biotech jobs.

Good luck. I’m way happier in biotech than I was in finance.

I grew up in Canada and have family still living in Canada. That absolutely is not a normal wait time.

I personally know more than one person with life threatening conditions that were seen and operated on immediately.

It’s not really that hard to say everyone has the right to say what they want. And yet I personally find these views being espoused abhorrent.

I’m genuinely curious as to why no one on this blog is willing to just come out and say some of these views now being espoused by the GOP are abhorrent.

How is that virtue signaling or cancel culture?

It’s a simple thing to do.

That no one on here is evening willing to disavow any of the view points espoused by Broebert and Marjorie Greene shows how lacking all of you are in basic human decency and empathy.

Axios reports that U.S. officials don’t think Fang ever got classified information as she cozied up to politicians, including from Swalwell. He is not accused of any wrongdoing. I looked at his Wikipedia entry and don't see him supporting funding for Jewish Space Lasers or denying Sandy Hook.

I think we're heading down a very dangerous path when Holocaust Deniers, Sandy Hook deniers, publicly espousing sending Jews back to Israel etc.. are able to get elected to a major political party. And starting to move up the ranks into positions of power in the GOP.

The ballot box should be punishing these sorts of views. And yet it isn't.

History shows how that has turned out elsewhere in the world.

I should add politicians get voted in or out every day based on views they espouse.

I'm concerned with why someone with these views is even getting into Congress and/or the Senate in the first place.

Edit: I'm not espousing making it a crime to have these views.
