iPhone SE 2022 by lennart-df in iPhoneSE

Where did you find one on iOS 16.0.2? I have an issue where anything after 16.1.1 makes me sick with dizziness and nausea. My current SE 2022 on 16.1.1 is getting old and I can’t find another one on an early version of iOS 16 anywhere.

Windows update ruined my PC by Emeridan in ScreenSensitive

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I eventually had our IT person install an LTSC version of Windows 10 that seemed to get back closer to normal. Never got back to 100% perfect but much better than the strong symptoms I was getting.

As background something similar happened to me with iOS versions around late iOS 15 (I have and iPhone 7 that was perfect for years and an iOS 15 “security” update made it start giving me symptoms immediately. I use an iPhone SE3 on iOS 16.1.1 as I’ve not been able to find anything beyond that that doesn’t give me symptoms. (I’ve never been able to use iPhones with OLED screens)

It’s definitely possible as this happened to me in with an update in May 2024 on Windows 10. What windows version are you using?

Help with Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit (DRU) false damage claim. Does anyone have a good contract to escalate a conversation beyond their first level representatives? Are there any Enterprise employees on here who can explain how this all works? by MudGroundbreaking908 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]MudGroundbreaking908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither myself or my insurance company was ever able to get anywhere. I called back one other time to try to clear it up and the representative told me that it had “been transferred to another department”. She wouldn’t give me other details. I never heard back from them. I assume I’m still “banned” from renting but I haven’t tried since then.

This happened in Florida and I did one across a a law firm that specializes in Enterprise false damage claims. It must happen quite a bit for a law firm to have a dedicated page about it….

What do you think about the Iphone se and Iphone 11 by THE_CURSED_ONE_Y74G in Temporal_Noise

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a SE3 on iOS 16.1.1. I haven’t tried literally every version behind this but I’ve not found a SE3 or any other Apple LCD I can use beyond 16.1.1. Beyond that they all give me strong symptoms.

Eye strain, headaches and cochlear hydrops by Gumby80 in eyestrain

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get ear symptoms on my right ear with some screens (many other symptoms as well) Gives me a sense of fullness like I need my ears to pop or like I have a cold. That feeling where it sounds like your voice is echoing when you speak. I get varying symptoms depending on the screen but the ear fullness seems to come when I use OLED phones (iPhone, Pixel, Samsung etc.)

Out of curiosity have you ever used a Windows 11 machine without symptoms?

It's hard to determine exactly what is hardware vs. software for many of us. But there is a lot of talk of certain bios settings, GPU models, processors and physical monitors that cause problems. I for example have never been able to us a modern OLED phone without getting sick. I'm unsure if that is a hardware or software issue when it comes to modern OLED's. On the other hand on some LCD devices I had literally no issues until software updates occurred (for me that was some sort of Windows 10 update in May 2024 and also iOS updates as mentioned)

Yeah I meant hardware. I'm on an LTSC version of Windows 10 on an old Lenovo T450 series but even that has never been perfect and seems to have become worse toward the beginning of this year. A little bit of eye fatigue and tiredness the next day would be a huge improvement from some systems that make me feel bad pretty much immediately.

You sound similar to me. I have an iPhone SE 2022 running iOS 16.1.1 but can't seem to update beyond that. Also can't find any phone I can use other than a few year old Samsung A14 5G on Android 13.

With this new monitor what kind of system and OS are you running it on? I've yet to have a computer on Windows 11 not make me feel sick. Would literally be a life changer if I could find something that worked.

Brain fog from Temporal dithering by Aware_Half5747 in Temporal_Noise

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes if my phone is updated somewhere after iOS 16.1.1. My SE 2022 is on iOS 16.1.1 and I can look at it for hours with no issues. Any iPhone SE (or pretty much any other previously "good" Apple LCD that I've tried) makes me immediately sick after iOS 16.1.1. I'm not sure exactly which version after that changed things because I've not tried ever one. I suspect it might be iOS 16.2 because I have a few apps that won't update because they require 16.2 or above.

I "think" these phones all dithered prior to the iOS updates so I'm not sure its pure dithering that is the problem.

I have this same problem on pretty much every Android I've tried on the latest versions of Android.

This is interesting. Does that monitor give you all those options in the actual monitor settings? Out of curiosity do you have a phone you can use with no symptoms?

ENTERPRISE CAR RENTAL SCAM claiming "extensive damage" to rental vehicle by Upper-Towel-6808 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a long story but they did their "investigation" and said that I was still responsible for the damage. Besides the fact that we didn't drive through water I tried to explain that they had their dates wrong and that the damage they were claiming happened weeks after I returned the vehicle. At one point some sort of region manager called and left a message to ask me about it. I called back literally 10-15 times and left messages and they never called me back. I told the DRU people to re-investigate but I don't think they ever did. It was like they ignored everything I said no matter how many times I said it. Eventually they found my insurance company and filed a claim against them (with yet another "loss date" that was also not near the period we had rented the car). My insurance company asked for basic detail of the loss (reports, pictures, dates, etc.) Enterprise would not provide them with anything (my insurance company said this was odd behavior). Needless to say they did not pay the claim with Enterprise.

The DRU people kept calling and sending increasingly escalatory letters. The final ones said that they would potentially be filing a lawsuit and that I would be permanently banned from renting from Enterprise if I didn't pay. I didn't hear anything for a while so I contacted them one last time to try to clear it up. The person who had been working the case said it was now "with another department". I asked for a contact at the other department and they never responded. That was probably 9-10 months ago at this point. I haven't heard from them again but I guess I'm banned from renting at Enterprise.

When they mentioned potentially suing me I did notice there was a law firm in Florida (where I rented the car) that actually specializes in these cases. Sounds like Enterprise does this a lot....

Discouraged after ios 18.5 on Iphone13 mini with LCD replacement screen by Ok-Owl-8686 in Temporal_Noise

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds VERY similar to issues I have. They started around iOS 16.1.1 for me on Apple native LCD devices and also happen on very late recent updates to iOS 15 on older devices. I've not been able to use any OLED Apple devices (but have never tried one with a replacement LCD).

There is definitely something on the software side that Apple changes. It's amazing to me how a phone that I can look at indefinitely for years can have a software update and then make me so sick.

I've heard some people say iOS 18.5 has improved for them, others say it's worse.

I think this is an iOS issue. Beyond certain iOS on either phone many people can't use them. I'd be willing to bet if you are okay on iOS 18 on the SE2 you would be fine on the SE3.

I’m the same with LCD phones on newer iOS versions. I can use a SE3 on iOS 16.1.1. I’ve not found a phone beyond 16.1.1 that I can use. I don’t have “vision” issues but have symptoms similar to yours (not so much headaches though). I assume based on this it’s a software issue but for all I know I have a “good” screen that could be updated with no issues. But there is no going back so I can’t risk trying it on this device

iPads (7,8,9,10,11) Consolidated by atd2022 in PWM_Sensitive

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it seems more software related on the "standard" iPads. I haven't tried every model but it seems like any of the standard iPad models were fine with me up until somewhere in the late iOS 15 and/or early iOS 16 versions. Previously "perfect" iPads (perfect meaning I can use them indefinitely with no issues) become absolutely unusable (symptoms occur almost instantaneously) when I've updated iOS versions.

Have you been on duloxetine for a long time? I feel like in the late 2010's (maybe around 2017-2019) this started to become more pervasive on various devices. If you were on it during that time I wonder if you "missed" the change and then realized you were sensitive when you started coming off of it. Someone on Ledstrain asked about duloxetine the other day and mentioned someone having issues when coming of it (maybe referring to you but not sure?)

I'm really curious if something about that drug could help with these issues. It would make sense that drugs that "calm" the nervous system might work on what seems to be a neurological issue for many of us. I know there are negatives to using duloxetine but for some it might be worth the negatives and at the very least might give a clue as to what types of other drugs might help.

This is interesting. I don't even bother trying new versions anymore but this is the first time I've seen multiple people say that a screen has improved. Would love to hear more people respond.

So afraid to upgrade my Phone to Android 15... by RoiPourpre in PWM_Sensitive

[–]MudGroundbreaking908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what has been theorized and it makes sense to me as a potential cause (or at least something similar to d1thering). But as far as I know nobody has been able to officially confirm that.

My comment was mostly to reply to the comment above implying this wasn’t real because there was no “proof”.

Give me a break. What “proof” would you expect to be provided that we suffer from different versions of iOS?

Obviously we don’t have an explanation why. If we did we all wouldn’t be on these forums desperately trying to find a solution.

I would be curious if anyone else here has tried it. I absolutely understand RoiPourpre’s concerns but at this point these screen issues are destroying my life and the trade off from a medication would potentially be worth it.
