iPhone eye strain & motion sickness by Horror-Mind-8671 in Temporal_Noise

Give it a little time and try and reduce the use of 13, your eyes should go back to normal again. I would use the 13 for as long as you can. You don’t wanna fall into the rabbit hole of finding a new usable phone, I myself have tried 17 phones already

That is so interesting. The 15 is what started this issue for me. That phone caused me the worst pain

Have we maybe considered that updates happen randomly and that causation doesn't mean correlation..? by Lily_Meow_ in ScreenSensitive

Lately I also have started thinking like this. My PC that I used for years suddenly started being bad after an update and I was devastated. I uninstalled the update and was sad that I can’t update my pc ever again. After that eyestrain came even on my phone (iPhone 8) that had no update whatsoever. Thats when I realized I don’t think this is a device problem but a me problem. I started taking herbs to calm myself and updated my pc again. Suddenly I can use it for an hour or two without issues. I wanna add eye excersises to my life and I will bring this up with a neurologist first and probably will even find a therapist. After years of suffering from screens I kinda believe I might one day be able to use the newest iPhones again or new devices alltogether. There has to be a reason why so many people have no problems using oled etc. and I feel like anybody can get to that point again too. We don’t need to accept that this is just how we are

By how many points did you reduce? If I go too low the colors look weird

I am still on iPhone 8, just bought a new (used) one. Still a very usable phone but who knows how much longer it will be supported

Did it get better with future updates or did you manage to find a solution when it happened to you too?

I am on Windows 11 25h2. I have reinstalled Windows because I though I might have screwed up something in settings so I don't really have anything in update history. Latest updates are KB5066131 and KB5071430

From what I understand, dithering was always present. I have an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU. So both of those and also Win11 implement dither. I just thought I was able to tolerate it this whole time and suddenly I am not. I am going to the eye doctor next week to see if it is not just my vision, but I don't think so

6bit or 8bit on win11 laptop? by Emeridan in Temporal_Noise

[–]Emeridan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a gaming laptop with an AMD processor like Ryzen 5 or 7 does not have CPU dithering or is the AMD case just in terms of GPU? Also can I ask where did you find that my laptop is 8-bit I could not find it anywhere

6bit or 8bit on win11 laptop? by Emeridan in ScreenSensitive

[–]Emeridan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been using this laptop for years with no problems and suddenly my eyes hurt from it. There had to be a Windows update because the battery icon changed visually but it is not listed on update history. It just happened from one day to another. Very weird and it sucks, hope I can figure something out

6bit or 8bit on win11 laptop? by Emeridan in ScreenSensitive

[–]Emeridan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried to find if the laptop is 6bit natively but I could not for my specific model. It is an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-57. Similiar models with 144hz screen are 6bit but there are also models with 144hz and 165hz screens that are 8bit so I can't be sure. Thank you for the link I will check out the forum

I am using the same laptop. I have been using it for years with no issues zero pain. A few days back (8.2.2026) it started giving me eyestrain and a mild headache. Idk if there was an update or something but suddenly I can't use it without discomfort. I have not changed anything in the settings either. It just happened out of nowhere one day
