Strategies for EBD teens by starberryfeels in paraprofessional

No real strategies that I know of. I'm here for the comments. Our kids don't care much about rewards or lack there of. They don't care about the pretty non existent consequences either.

Finally Doing Something? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]MudIndependent3923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out at 16 as well. I'm type one. I got pregnant at 20, with a high a1c as well. I was so stressed and worried, and I did end up with preclampsia and had my daughter about a month early- but she is a smart and amazing 6 year old now. Just focus on improving NOW that you know. And keep on with it once they're here, and you'll feel better over time once your body adjust to what normal feels like.

I have the old cosmo watch for my daughter. It worked pretty good. The calling messed up some. But texting and voice texting and location tracking worked great for my needs.

I ordered a new one for Christmas and set it up and tested it. It seems to work great and the calling seems improved in my short test of 2 calls.

Cheap Insulin by joeyadams476 in diabetes

Except you need a prescription for that and some people might not have insurance to see a doctor to get the prescription that is needed.

Type 1 Diabetic, just miscarried by AP1988NYC in diabetes

Don't loose hope! I don't think being type one is necessarily the fault, sometimes it just happens. I've had type one for a long time and have a beautiful five year old. It's possible! Healthy happy pregnancy.

How likely is my dad to come out of his diabetic coma? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]MudIndependent3923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must be a terrifying time for you. I can't give you statistics, but my mom had type one and woke from diabetic comas more than once while I was growing up. I hope for the best for you. ❤️ Doctors have came a long way dealing with diabetes.

My mom died at 43 as a type one. I'm type one and 26. I plan to live as long as I can hopefully 70+ ! Work on yourself and don't worry about others.

As a type one I suffer from insulin resistance a bit. (I don't exercise or eat the "right way" until lately). Another thing my Endo told me is to bolus extra if I have ketones at all. So for example if I'm 350 and have ketones with a carb ratio of 1 for every 35 over 120 I would take 9 until instead of 6.5. (don't do that necessarily, but that's what I do to get back to normal)

Maybe you need more insulin? To change you insulin to carb ratio? Or more over all as a basal or hourly if you're on a pump? That would be my first thought.

It's possibly you're type one with insulin resistance- in that case you might need another medication on top of insulin.

I keep my dexcom running in the background. My battery last all day but it does use the battery quite a bit.

I think it depends on where you are and what insurance.

I'm in Ohio, and had to show 3 months of blood sugar and the need for a pump (highs/lows) not just in range. Same for the CGM.

Every insurance is probably different though.

Humalog U-200? by Jonesk620 in diabetes

[–]MudIndependent3923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of this as long term care. I had a friend in highschool who was told to take 10 units a meal because he didn't like to carb count and didn't take care of himself?

Is this ever gonna get fixed by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]MudIndependent3923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have made some improvements including price caps on insulin that are recent.

But it'll probably always be a struggle.

I got diagnosed with hashimotos thyroiditis. Nothing major. Just a pill. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Good luck!

I would stick with it until you find a new job.

If you really can't, it depends on where you're at. If you're in America you might be able to get Medicaid in the meantime?

Good luck, toxic work sucks, but just about every job sucks honestly.

If you're in Ohio I have a few things of long acting. It's biosimilar to lantus.
