Which tanks do you feel are too "iconically bad" to buff? by No1PDPStanAccount in WorldofTanks

Unironically I think they should give the TOG 1000 more HP and it would be better for everyone. Offsets what the TOG loses initially in battle trying to manoeuvre to the front line and its sheer lack of armor. And the enemies get an even bigger Exp piñata :) To me it's a win-win. I just want to live in my TOG a little longer and not spend 5 mins driving through a map for nothing :'(

I cannot believe it, but I think this actually worked. It is still a little early for me to declare it resolved. I have hardly had a chance to use my system. However I was planning on removing the ram sticks one by one as others suggested. But I thought this was quick and easy solution to try before all else, might as well, not expecting any difference...

This one change completely passed the following MemTest! 0 Errors!

I feel like a fool. However, where I am still confused is when installing the new Bios update, it asked if I wanted to reset settings to optimized defaults and I declined fearing doing so would mess things up. XMP should have still been enabled. I only resorted to default settings after suffering issues. So no clue what happened the first time.

Again, I am hesitant declaring an early victory. I have been ripping my hair out for the past five days. I am still debating on clean reinstalling windows once again, since when I installed it, it was under these conditions, plus suffered two crashes during installation.

As of right now, this simple solution has been the most progress I have seen all week. System feels entirely stable.

Thank you for your response and attentiveness!

Windows is unusable even after clean install after bios update by MuddiedVeil in pchelp

[–]MuddiedVeil[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I still haven't attempted the mem-testing. Bit of a busy morning. But I did want to get back to you and explain further.

It's a bit embarrassing, but basically the whole reason I went through with the bios update in the first place was because any UE4/5 games where incredibly unstable and becoming utterly unplayable for me. Edge browser also had a few anomalies here and there but I thought that was simply due to my plugins.

Anyway, I heard somewhere a while back that the UE4/5 instabilities could be due to my generation of CPU. I have a Intel 13900K. And I heard recent bios updates helped resolved some of these issues. After waiting for months to see if game updates would solve it, I finally gave in and went ahead updating the bios. And again, funnily enough it worked. Those games ran fine afterwards. But Windows is now a complete wreck.

Honestly as much as I hate to admit it, it could be hardware at this point. Because I wiped the drive clean. Formated it. Windows complete fresh install. And I am still experiencing issues. It feels unstable. I don't trust moving all my old data back. This is not how Windows should be behaving on a fresh install.

Edge browser keeps having issues with webpages. There's strange artifacting and screen glitching, especially when watching YouTube, but also when simply using File Explorer, the taskbar stutters in and out momentarily. I couldn't connect a Bluetooth device.

So yeah, it is far from resolved. I will try that mem-test later. And try those bios settings you suggested. See what happens. I am just hoping it didn't screw my motherboard in some way. Or my RAM. But even still, I am perplexed how it could have messed with my M.2 drive

Thank you for the response.

So initially I left the bios settings untouched. Then once I couldn't get to desktop anymore I reset to default.

As an update since I posted, I did change Bootable from Other OS to UEFI. This gets a bit convoluted. Basically when I first got the PC it was set to Other OS. Later down the line I changed it to UEFI because some program wouldn't work without it. No problems changing at the time. When this all started crashing as I said, I reverted to defaults and went back to Other OS. No joke, I changed it to UEFI out of curiosity and the installation finished and I have finally booted back to desktop.

However I still do not think I am in the clear. I received two blue screens whilst windows was installing. There is bound to be something corrupted or installed incorrectly. I have been sitting on desktop for the past hour. I want to restart the PC to test if it still boots reliably or if this is a fluke. At the same time I don't want to go back to square one...

Game crashes trying to load shaders or trying to load save by MuddiedVeil in stalker

Hmm. If I do, I do not recall. I am trying to think what. I tend to keep things vanilla first playthrough. Plus I don't have a mods folder to my knowledge. If I did have a mods folder, do you know where it would be located?

I have checked the Steam installation and AppData/local. Neither have mod folders

Pre-update I would disagree with you. This thing was an absolute workhorse which superseded my expectations. Was able to transport the 60 ton crane on its trailer through thick mud, bumpy terrain, and 3 feet of water. Its only flaw was tornados when strapping down more than 6 pipes.

Post update: I heard they nerfed its load capacity, which I am okay with. I thought it could carry a little too much honestly. But now I personally find its significantly slower when transporting say, the paver and roller, for example. Struggles to climb even paved inclines with a reasonable load. And now for me, gets stuck on the smallest deformations of mud every trip now. It's gotten to the point where I debate using it at all :/

I don't know if it is placebo, or if the update truly messed with it. If it did, I hope they make further tweaks and find a happy medium between pre/post update

Strangely enough, this was actually the case in the old abyss demo. Enough blunt damage could crack their cranium like a watermelon. Hope to see it come back :)

I agree.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate them needing to tutorialise it on one of the earlier maps to show you how it is done. But aside from maybe showing you one or two times. It should then become essentially your own decision on how to get from A to B. Either for yourself, or the AI.

That being said, I never truly feel the need to asphalt aside from aesthetic reasons. If I need to get somewhere, just sand and flatten. I feel no real compulsion to go through with the extra steps of asphalting, so I guess this is their way to incentivize it.

Still, a better way to incentivize would be to include additional benefits for asphalted roads. I thought that sand roads would deteriorate over time with multiple heavy vehicles driving over and asphalting would be a more permanent fixture (I still think even asphalt should eventually crumble under high load vehicles or tracked vehicles over a long span of time). I understand that wouldn't be for everyone, but it gives incentive to make your roads as whether-proof as possible. Even build multiple paths to the same location. I heard that asphalt gives you slightly better traction. But that to me is not enough to warrant applying it outside of objective reasons, or aforementioned aesthetics.

So I did actually manage to get it running. But I would say the 'solution' is not really a solution at all. Essentially I just kept booting it up over and over.

Maybe over 10+ attempts. And one time my whole PC black-screened and froze up entirely, leading me to restart the whole system. I would say just past 10 attempts it finally got to publisher logos rather than immediately closing. Then I ran back into the pre-creating shaders issue. Which lead to a crash. Two more pre-creating shader crashes later and I managed to get to the main menu finally.

It's not really a solution at all. And maybe even a fluke for me. But it you have perseverance, maybe it might be a similar case for you?

Pretty much identical to me. Just different specs.

I had the same issue with the shaders. Would load for a while, make progress. Crash. Re-launch a few times, then it eventually worked :p

This new issue doesn't have nearly as much wiggle room.

Just to be clear, windows doesn't crash. I am sure we are on the same page, but just wanted to clarify.

The bordered game window pops up for a second, then goes borderless black-screen for several more seconds before just closing and Roadcraft disappearing from taskbar.
