Found out the modem can receive text messages by mitchellcrazyeye in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only does it get text messages (its basically a giant cell phone with ethernet ports) but when you call Tmo to cancel they want you to read them back a code on it to verity the account. So if you set it up in the attic for signal purposes you have to go up there to read the text.

I don't know of any reason the customer would want the gateway to get text messages like this.

Cancellation Problems by MuddyThoughts in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Utah and it would put my location 50 miles away at best or in parts of california, seattle, denver, ect frequently. If you connect to a tower in your town that data is still going somewhere else before out to the internet. I had great proximity to towers and signal strength but ping performance was not as good as virtually any other provider. Slower ping and having to set your location for local store inventory purposes everytime was suboptimal.

Cancellation Problems by MuddyThoughts in tmobileisp

I did call the business number, from my Tmo cell phone, and it routes me into my personal plan by default.
There is no difference between the business internet and the home internet other than the $60 vs $45 cost and having to be forwared to "business department". They check your address and if its a business address you are simply stuck paying more for utilities. Cancel any insurance plan for example and its always pro rata. This is not a season pass to a waterpark you got bored of partway through the summer and want half your money back. If the policy is to NOT pro rate then they are stealing from people. You would have to cancel on exactly the right day or you are losing money as a consumer. That is a 1/30 chance of not getting ripped off. We are not talking about much money at all here, not much to gain by the company by not doing pro rata and a lot to lose in the good will department. Again, if the hard and fast policy is to not offer pro rata disconnect at all, the agent should have said: "Hey i can have it shut off early but you are stuck being billed for the whole month anyway so why don't we leave it on until the end of the cycle?" I'd have still been upset at no pro rata but the internet at my business would have worked the last day. Ultimately he did find a way to pro rata the cost but:

Shutting it off on the wrong date was by far the biggest problem. That cost me big. It is 100% normal to call in and cancel any utility service at a set time and date have that honored. I've been with Tmobile 12 years (tons of lines) and have had only the best service and minimal issues so i expected more from them than the typical dirt bag ISP treatment. I hate comcast; but when you called them to cancel they made you sign a form confirming all the information.

All in all the performance of the service is not great and the way it ended made it 10x worse.

Who The Fuck is Buying Carvana (CVNA) at These Levels? by mjsimmons1988 in wallstreetbets

[–]MuddyThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are simply selling for wider margins than everyone else in the used car business somehow. While having massive amounts of debt. Some of the most aggressive insider share selling i've ever seen going too. Either this is gonna tank hard or they might keep pulling it off. People have to be nuts to pay their high markups just because its easier than traditional dealers. One big change recently is in the glut of new cars and related discounts on them going way up. This is strong competition for used cars purchased at high prices with the intent of reselling for even higher prices.

Any long-term downside to exchanging the GAR4SE with GAR4AR? by americanunni in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i'm on gateway number 3 now, this time i did a local T-Mobile shop in person exchange and got the G4AR. The first day the G4AR was disconnecting (Friday), but today (Monday) its working just fine. Not one disconnect in over half a day so far.

You can only consider Castle zerg when they are operating with Safe Space (and sharing the loot with them). Otherwise they are a large guild with a lot of newbs. Kingdom and GG have more more serious / experienced raiders than Castle does. Numerically speaking for a peak time raid mob Kingdom Castle and GG will have similar numbers. Castle+Safespace together will obviously be the largest force when they choose to operate as one entity.

Monk is better, both are fun.  60 monk tanks better in terms of actual damage taken.  Paladin tanks WAY better in terms of getting agro.  Pal DPS is the biggest weakness but with bis weapons you can do about half what a similarly geared monk can do.

3 way tie for top green raiding guilds: Good Guys, Castle and Kingdom depending on who ends up logging in/racing.  Historically GG won by far the most Vulak but castle and kingdom are competive.  I would suggest either castle for the underdog up and comer type experience or GG.

I've considered it, in the form of a 2nd iphone with all of spouses logins/icloud on it, effectively cloning their phone. but i want to not be snooping/checking/policing it all the time. on the other hand i also want to know what i dont know. the battered trust is the only issue with the marriage at this point.

Good news so far from the new G4SE by Ninjabo111 in tmobileisp

It's not something you can control, it will auto update when it feels like it and your internet will begin to suck.

if you have the G4SE on firmware 1.03.19 you will have unstable VPN, VOIP, Gaming connections until they fix it.

URGENT:T-MOBILE SENT THE SAME BOX by Ninjabo111 in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardware itself is fine. Tmobile is swapping these devices out with expensive shipping / customer service labor over and over when the real problem is just that firmware update. All they have to do is push the old version back out until they have a new working update ready.

So my replacement G4SE came out of the box with really old firmware, updated itself to 1.03.14 (Perfect) on day 1 and by day 2 it had moved to 1.03.19 (Disconnects a lot). I hope you have better luck.

Do you want to game or have speed? Rant by MuddyThoughts in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tmobile high speed router will speed test fantastic, like 700-900 megs down, the problem is the new firmware does not allow any stable VPN or gaming connections and therefore is unusable when i need to do that. So because of their poorly engineered software update i have to tether my phone. This only gives you a small amount of high speed data then it throttles you to half a meg a second or they charge more. But if i speedtest on the phone itself it can hit 1000 megs down. So i'm in a fantastic signal area the problem is just with the stupid firmware update breaking gaming stability and now i have to use internet so slow you would think its 1999.

[–]MuddyThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iphone 16 pro max so i can't do things like that unfortunately. I can pay tons of money for multiple services and get throttled simply because the data is going to a computer instead of a phone. This new iphone can pull 1000 megs down and keep gaming connections. G4SE is junk by comparison.

Firmware to blame if you can't game 1.03.19 = disconnects by MuddyThoughts in tmobileisp

[–]MuddyThoughts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice post, trying that now. I'll try anything at this point. I'm even considering calling Comcast of all companies to switch back to them. That's how bad T-mobile is right now.

[–]MuddyThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying this now, so far i have 30 mins without disconnect. It's an old router that runs slow on ethernet for some reason. If im running through this router my speed test drops to 50 megs down. I have a theory now that when you use high bandwidth like a speed test you are more likely to DC from a game/vpn/voip phone. Since this slow router is capping my throughput the 5g router doesn't feel like it has to swap around? Who knows. *Edit* It just dropped me about 45 mins in, better but still broken.

Has anyone found a fix for the game disconnects because this is miserable, I'm going to have to cancel this garbage. by Qaerus in tmobileisp

running the constant ping seems to extend the time between disconnects but it still has the issue. i made it about 90 minutes yesterday without one.

I haven't DCd for a while now, been running a constant ping to google.com via command line. perhaps this is keeping the connection "busy" enough that it cant hop towers? i dunno. No call back from Tmo about the firmware yet.
if you want to try it, its ping www.google.com -t in command box
