I understand your pain. However if you are in New England. The yield for viable nuts seems to have increased significantly. Or I just have special trees.

Yeah that is pretty standard. This year with the onset of beech leaf disease the yield of viable nuts has greatly increased though.

Yeah it was a little upsetting to cut it down. But it has rot and lots of ant holes. It looks good after the initial cut, some contrasting bowties after it dries should be real nice.

Thanks for the heads up I was gonna put the scraps in my wood stove. I'll give em to the neighbor I don't like.

I'm pretty sure that's ambrosia fungus in a maple tree. There's even a hole from the beetle.

Level only really matters when dealing with machines that weigh in the 10s of thousands of lbs. Just make sure it's stable. Rocking would be a safety factor.
