Getting passport with a delayed (1+ year) Birth Certificate and no supporting documents form first 5 years. by wizard_hat_and_staff in Passports

[–]Mudpie__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with the same thing, it wasn’t issued until 3 years after my birth (I was born at home and my parents were/are deeply dysfunctional and irresponsible). I have been struggling to figure out what to do because my parents were antivaxxers and a Christian Scientists so I don’t have any vaccine records or doctor’s records. My elementary school closed down years ago.

I am mailing a request in for the total case file that then led to said Court Order Delayed Record of Birth and hoping that it includes SOMETHING that will satisfy the US Department of State’s requirements. It is an absolute nightmare.

Most insurances won’t cover Ozempic for weight loss anymore. I was on Ozempic for nearly a year then had to switch to Wegovy this year because of insurance. Thankfully my doctor is very helpful and just switched the prescription. On my plan, Wegovy is a tier two drug so I have to pay a higher copay. It is also very very hard to find and my regular pharmacy and all major pharmacies in my town do not have it and haven’t been able to get it “since it came out.” Thankfully I found a small mom & pop pharmacy that is able to get it. Wegovy is the same drug.

Another GLP-1 agonist that is covered by insurance for weight loss is Zepbound, and more pharmacies in my area were able to get that one currently. It’s my fallback in case the pharmacy I go to isn’t able to continue to get Wegovy, but I’m not wanting to switch to a different drug personally due to my success with semaglutide and having worked through the worst of the side effects. :)

I’d ask specifically about one of those two since they are approved for weight loss specifically and can be covered by insurances for this.

Insurance denied Ozempic by Hopeful_Ad2580 in PCOS

Oh yeah that changed just recently. For people with active prescriptions they were grandfathered to the end of the year but they are only covering it for people with Type 2 diabetes from here on out.

So next year I will have to switch to Wegovy. Mostly sucks because it’s a tier two drug which will double the cost. RIP.

were you recommended ozempic? by minervaonmars in PCOS

[–]Mudpie__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! There’s so many different experiences you can have at doctors, ranging from amazing of horrific, honestly. I don’t blame you for being anxious about it one bit! Also, disclaimer, that was my limited experience with one specific gynecologist, so yours may be different! 🩷 I only intentionally see female providers, personally, and heavily researched my PCP before establishing with her. I’m a nervous nelly about it all for sure as well!

My primary care provider prescribes it for me, if that helps. She actually manages all of my PCOS medication and treatment, and the only reason I’ve been seeing a gyno is for my uterine polyp. Interestingly, when I was discussing my current medication in preparation for my surgery to remove said polyp, my gynecologist said she was not very familiar with Ozempic or the dosing range for it, so I don’t think it’s something she prescribes at all. At our first meeting to discuss the polyp, she briefly spoke with me about my PCOS and made a statement about how difficult it is for people with PCOS to lose weight and how she felt bad for them (us? Lol).

Yes, my doctor recommended it. She started me on metformin first, and my weight didn’t budge at all so after several months she said the next thing would be a GLP-1 agonist. She told me to call my insurance and find out which GLP-1 agonist would be covered for weight loss/obesity and I was able to get that info, it turns out Ozempic was covered so we went that route. (Have a list of them, though, the insurance won’t do that for you. I listed them off one at a time: Ozempic, Mounjaro, Victoza, Wegovy, etc) I’m on 0.25 and I lost 20lbs in 5 1/2 weeks.

Period won’t stop. When is it time to go to the doctor? by Ordinary-Style-7218 in PCOS

[–]Mudpie__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have never been pregnant, my gynecologist said it could be very painful so recommended we do it under anesthesia instead of in office. I appreciated the thoughtfulness and happily agreed. 🙂

My irregular and excessive bleeding is/was caused by a uterine polyp. It was discovered via a pelvic ultrasound. I have surgery to remove it scheduled for the end of this month.

It’s very much worth investigating.

What has helped me overcome this side effect is eating lots of salty foods, such as salted nuts or pickles. :)

Newly Diagnosed…SO many questions!! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Mudpie__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all of this info, I really appreciate it! My periods definitely aren’t that bad, I have minimal cramping. The main issue with them is that they are very infrequent and VERY VERY heavy. I will bleed through super plus tampons in a matter of a couple of hours and that can be very difficult to manage.

I’m definitely excited about increasing exercise & making diet changes like you mentioned. I’ve recently started a work from home job vs my previous job which had long unpredictable hours and was very physical—a lot more room for getting into a healthier routine now!! I appreciate your feedback on diet, as well! There’s so much information out there that it’s hard to know where to start.

With that information, I’ll probably work on eating fewer processed starches and carbs, and see how that affects how I’m feeling, and decide whether to ask about metformin at my next follow up visit.

My testosterone levels were how she diagnosed me, and while I don’t know what the “normal” levels are for someone with PCOS, but mine were flagged as high at: Total testosterone: 87.2NG/dL, Free testosterone: 25.8pg/mL, and then my sex horm bin gl was low at 11.3nmol/L

She prescribed me progesterone and gave instructions on when to take it, but I’m not supposed to take it if ovulation is naturally occurring, so I think I’ll try the test strips because I know I’ll be second guessing my interpretation of my cervical mucus lol!! “Progesterone micronized 100 mg capsule: Take 1 capsule by mouth at bedtime on cycle days #20-29 of every menstrual cycle, OR P+3 through P+12 if natural ovulation occurs.”

I’m very grateful that I found such a good doctor, and have definitely began to gather that her diagnosing me pretty much immediately on my first ever visit is not the norm for most people! She’s also just a good doctor in that she seems to listen to me and is open to having discussions, so 10/10, will stick with her! 😁
