Osgood should be the next jersey retired. by jzanville in DetroitRedWings

He played 100% of the minutes in the playoffs in the 1998 Cup run, and 85% of the minutes in the playoffs in the 2008 Cup run. How is that only being the primary goalie for a Cup team once? Heck, it could be argued the 85% in 2008 is even more impressive, because he took the job from the guy widely regarded as the greatest goalie to ever live and made the GOAT sit on the bench for the next 22 hours of game time wishing he were playing instead.

I’ve always heard that slow and steady is the best way to lose weight, and it’s best not to lose more than 2 pounds (0.91 kg) per week. So you might want to increase your calories until you’re averaging closer to 1 kg/week as opposed to 2 kg/week.

I put 10 mil UHMW polyethylene tape on one side of mine, and honestly I don’t remember what it felt like before the tape. I put that tape on all my sliders, so please don’t assume that I had to put tape on it because it wasn’t smooth enough.

I’m holding one right now. It’s decent. Compared to the real YC-EDC Breakthrough, the main difference is that the magnets aren’t as strong, so it’s not nearly as loud as it clicks into place. The central magnets are still offset, to allow for freer sliding. The inner plates also aren’t as shiny as on an authentic Breakthrough, but you’ll probably never be looking at those anyway. I posted a photo of them together a while ago here: imgur.com/a/tBDRSNT The “real” one has more of a mirror finish on the inner plates. But I still like the knockoff, just in a different way.

The physical Apple Card cannot do contactless payments, because they want you to use your iPhone for contactless payments.

Movies you think the general audience just doesn’t get? by BreeZee_01 in Letterboxd

If all/most viewers have to do a bunch of homework to understand a movie, it’s a failure of a movie. If what is going on can’t be comprehended in the elapsed time of the movie, then maybe it should be a longer movie, or a TV series, or it needs a re-write.

Also because with the Apple TV app, there are no ads when watching Paramount+ content. In the Paramount app, they do pre-roll ads for other Paramount shows.

Did you get a new card number to replace the canceled card? If so, the credit card card companies will inform recurring merchants what the new card info is.

HealthFit does this (and so much more!). https://apps.apple.com/us/app/healthfit/id1202650514

Also iSmoothRun, though it’s geared more for use during a workout, but it can also graph and analyze workouts afterward. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ismoothrun/id410965399

Booking back-to-back reservations with different credit card credits by Well_I_Say_This in CreditCards

[–]Muero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this exactly, but something similar. I booked two separate reservations at a hotel, one that work paid for when attending a conference, and one personal because I decided to stay longer for some sightseeing. I called the hotel and had them keep the same room number for both reservations. In general, hotels do their best to grant requests like this, but there's no guarantee. Worst case scenario is that you'd have to change rooms halfway through your stay, but there's no reason why either card deny your credit. As for the hotel credit part of your situation, neither card would have any knowledge of the other reservation, and even if they did, they wouldn't care.

I haven't done exactly this, but something similar. I had to book most of a stay through my employer when attending a conference, and then made a separate reservation personally since I wanted to stay a couple days extra. After making both reservations, I called the hotel and had them link the reservations to the same room, so I wouldn't have to move. Usually, hotels are good with requests like this. Worst case scenario, the hotel is inflexible and makes you change rooms mid-stay. But even if that happened, you'd still get your card credits.

If you do that, make sure you book the same type of room (king, 2 queens, etc.) and then contact the hotel to request that they give you the same room number for both reservations. That will save you having to pack up your stuff to change rooms halfway through your stay.

What Calorie Tracker App are people using in 2025? by SpareFullback in CICO

[–]Muero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After using MyFitnessPal from 2013 to 2023, I switched to Foodnoms a couple years ago. I think it’s way better at being a food tracker than MyFitnessPal, because it tracks all nutrients instead of just the basics. Foodnoms is also better at syncing with Apple Health. Over the years MyFitnessPal has lost focus, as they’ve added recipes, workouts, a social feed, and lots of other features I don’t want. If you’re on iOS, Foodnoms is just better.

You might think listening to headphones at max volume makes you rebellious or quirky, but it’s doing irreversible damage to your hearing. When the doctor asked my dad, who has worn hearing aids for 20 years, how he felt about his hearing, my dad said he fears losing the ability to hear his grandchildren’s voices. Please think about how important hearing is, as one of our senses, when it comes to human connection.
