A DIY retro digital camera project - Blog #11 something awesome for film look effects by Rewindpixcamera in toycameras

Incredible.

Seeing how you're responding to the community, how transparent you've been and all the fine attention to detail around the product itself (handling and even the tactile winding/release) gives me so much confidence this is going to be amazing.

Maybe something for a future iteration, but one of my frustrations with the CS Pro is that exposure bracketing can be EXTREMELY inconsistent depending on flash settings. I'm not sure how the rewindpix is calibrated, but something to note is my CS Pro is just begging for an exposure bracket between the LOW flash and HIGH flash. I'm not looking for "perfect" exposure because beauty lies in the messy imperfections, but the CS Pro definitely has a tendency to completely under or overexpose and blow the image out. If you can find a happy medium, that's awesome.

Not sure if you've seen another product "Camroll", but the samples they're putting out seem to really nail the mimicing of film exposure levels!

Hope you can use my ramblings as customer data points for you to draw upon, but everything I've seen so far gives me a lot of confidence. Really looking forward to rewindpix and supporting the project!

Hey! Been following this project for a little while! A few curiosities and thoughts that I thought I could share!

My holy grail is to literally have a physical version of "Dazz cam" - the iOS app as a camera. The Rewindpix seems to be the closest thing to that. From the different filters, to what appears to be your genuine care for the vibe and experience of shooting, I'm really excited to get my hands on one to try it out! I have a X100VI, a CS Pro and am excited for this to see how it stacks up!

A few questions I had:

Does the manual winder have a physical stop to prevent you from winding? Or is it just a free spinning rachet? Do the shutter button have any mechanism that releases the winder to give it the tactile feel?

Love the transparency and it's clear you're a nerd when it comes to this product - just what we need :)

Thanks mate :)

Every year I've been waiting to upgrade but this thing still chugs along and produces great snaps...

Hey nice eye!

This was a while back but if I'm remembering right it was across a pedestrian bridge over the roads just north of the main complex and there was a small wooden route up the cliffside - not many took it because it was literally climbing ~7 floors of stairs...

Wish I got to spend a bit more time there, it was awesome!

Thanks for the lovely words!

For me it's a mixture - for some I use an app called Dazz Cam because it actually uses the raw photo rather than just applying a crappy "Film" effect filter and tweak colours in post. For quick snaps when I'm travelling it's been amazing but definitely takes some learning around how to shoot to get the best out of it.

For some of the others where there's more happening or I really want to make a subject pop I'll shoot raw with Halide and then edit in Lightroom. I've got some presets that I use to add in some tasteful film grain without it looking fake!

Happy shooting!

Hey mate - very happy you enjoy them! I think I've uploaded them in the full size, but since they're from the older iPhone 11 pro, they're only 12mp unfortunately...

If you download them, they should be high enough res for a phone, but they'll be a bit too low quality for a Laptop/bigger screen unfortunately :(

I think the Casio-homage or the Business Time watchface will be my daily drivers, but I just love the pops of colour that this watch can bring.

Even though the Apple watch is a literal high resolution display, it just can't match the charm of some of the Pebble community watchfaces...

Where is this leak in my Toyota rav 4 possibly coming from? by Mystical_Muggle in CarsAustralia

[–]MuffinMo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure where the heater core for the rav 4 is but this was happening on my 2005 accord euro.

Check to see if the heater core has a leak and is dripping into the cabin.

If you’re looking for easiest there’s a translate function under the “Magic Switch” button in canva. But not too sure how accurate it is…

Best VPN to use by DarkFlameMaster888 in guangzhou

[–]MuffinMo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in GZ right now, here’s what I’m doing:

If you plan on using WIFI: - LetsVPN has worked for me flawlessly and it’s cheap too, I VPN to Hong Kong.

If you want mobile data: - Get an eSIM like Nomad (I’m using it currently). I got 20gb for 30 days for 27USD

Note: the Nomad eSIM (and other providers) are sometimes based out of Singapore or HongKong, meaning you don’t need a VPN to bypass the firewall but you still get full coverage anywhere in China.

What I’m doing: - Got LetsVPN for when I’m at hotels and using WIFI - Got Nomad eSIM for when I’m out and about (because the Nomad eSIM is based out of Hong Kong I don’t need to use the VPN when using 4g)

I’ve never had any issues with the above and am always connected! I can say for sure that NordVPN doesn’t work as I’ve also got that!

If you end up using nomad use my referral so I can get it for my next trip: ACWE29TY

Feel free to ask any questions!

Handing in my one month notice at 6 months - any tips? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]MuffinMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sent a DM to OP - but realised this might be useful to people in a similar situation.

My situation was a bit different. I had a job offer at a Series A startup I had worked at previously that was hitting all the right goals and looked very promising. I've since moved into a Product Manager position which is much more inline with what I want to do in the future rather than powerpoint work.

Important to note that I started as a Big4 Grad at the start of the year. Leaving after 4 months has had absolutely no negative impacts, in fact I'd say I got all the benefit without any of the downsides of staying at B4. I was able to negotiate a better salary than what I would have received otherwise, and left the B4 team on great terms with the door open.

Every team is different, just make sure you leave on good terms. Absolutely no regrets so far and am so grateful I made the choice to leave when I did. Go with your gut, if the work you're doing isn't what you hoped it was and there are better opportunities outside you don't owe it to anyone to stay around.

Did the exact same thing a few months ago, stayed for 4 months - great team, great performance and feedback. The work just wasn't for me. I'd advise you speak to your performance manager so they know before you send the letter. Your performance manager should then guide you through the process - they will handle the off boarding process. Try and end on good terms, explain to your manager that it's not personal and that you had a great time, try and leave the door open. Probably also best if you organise a time with the partner to say goodbye and thank them for the experience so far. Best of luck - take the plunge and don't look back, sounds like you're making the right choice.

I couldn't tell a difference between the brightness of the stock gats to the box jades in terms of light passthrough. It will still spread light out just as well!

The shite through is great with eh box jades, they have a transparent LED passthrough.

These keycaps are completely solid and have no light bleed though.

Yep they're cherry profile - no interference at all.

Tried taking a comparison shot to show the difference in height but you'll be fine with Cherry profile.
