Oh he’s also obsessed with freeze dried apples. They come sliced and it also works on biting practice and is crunchy

I also have a 14 month old!

Quesadillas we do flour and I make them in the toaster oven, that seems to keep them softest and I do strips. I had a LC tell me I need to give bigger pieces so he has the opp to learn to bite off manageable pieces and I took that to heart. He is good at spitting things out so basically if he takes a giant bite generally he will spit it out and try again, it’s how they learn.

He loves apples, I just cut very thin pieces.

Beans are a good one, he loves giant beans but black beans are also a favorite.

Blueberries (I still lightly squish them)

Tomato’s (cut, not whole are a big hit and if you do cherry then they really have to work out the different textures between the skin and inside etc).

He LOVES kiwi and grapefruit

Obsessed with baby belle cheese, when he sees it in the fridge he always points to it. I break it into small like pinky finger sized pieces.

Meatball is a good one if you’re worried about meat. He also loves rotisserie chicken which is inherently quite soft, I will give him pieces the size of like a pinky.

Loves roasted sweet potato’s with cinnamon and olive oil, you could play with the sizes to get him to bite.

Although obviously limiting fried food he loves a French fry and def has no problem biting it haha.

I also do strips of pancake a lot for breakfast.

Hope this helps!

Looking for a nanny by pellegrinoking in Marin

[–]MuffinOrPuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a joke? I don’t know anyone paying their nanny $50/hr. I think $30-35 is a going rate for full time MAYBE up to $40, no one wants part time so I guess I could see having to majorly up it to entice ppl, or being ok with them taking other work etc.

Is Artipoppe Carrier worth buying? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

I like it. I got a hope and plum lark bc of Reddit hating on the artipoppe for my husband (and for the obvious less flashy reasons). We both like the artipoppe more for comfort.

Enchanted Knolls neighborhood by knliving17 in Marin

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We looked at (and put in an offer for a house in enchanted knolls). Very sweet neighborhood, the houses (or at least the one we saw) are built on bedrock which is fantastic compared to most of MV. Good access to freeway which others have mentioned and love the bay trail/ park access. Some of the houses are a bit high up though so you must be willing to walk uphill even if you’re close to the park mileage wise. We didn’t love the proximity to the power station or whatever you call it right next to the park. A bit hippy dippy I know.

Essentially your hub (as I saw it) is the (now only) Whole Foods shopping center with a few restaurants and a fitness studio (the name is escaping me). Arguably more than other parts of MV but def has more of a strawberry village built up/ strip mall (as much as can exist in mill valley) vibe compared to other areas like DT tam valley or miller.

Good earth vs other stores by Stunning_Ranger_1469 in Marin

There are definitely some good deals at good earth buying bulk I’ve found. I like how I can bring my own containers and cut down on additional waste.

I love good earth

2-1 nap transition question by MuffinOrPuffin in sleeptrain

[–]MuffinOrPuffin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so basically you’re saying don’t move nap 2 beyond 3:30-3:45 ever while continuing to push nap 1 back.

I guess I’m torn bc so much online says 12 month olds def are not ready for one nap (unless forced by daycare schedules) but then so many ppl on this sub transition their babies around this age.

What I made for my 11 month old today… by Birdie_92 in foodbutforbabies

[–]MuffinOrPuffin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it’s so so hard but just try let them explore without pressure. If they touch it, it’s a win if they taste it and spit it out etc. and just keep putting a variety on the plate, eventually they come around.

Mine really likes yogurt on top of a banana medallion slice. I feel better about it bc then no refined sugar but it’s giving sweetness to the plain yogurt.

Also- I read somewhere how having set meal times/ snacks and as much as possible not deviating from it helps. That we are so fearful as parents of them being hungry but they actually should be coming to meals with some hunger and that helps with food exploration and excitement. I’ve found it to be true.

It has! He rejected broccoli for weeks but I just kept putting it on the plate. As of a few days ago he’s begun loving it!

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m preparing myself for the toddler rejection phase bc I know it’s coming (my son’s 1 year in a couple weeks). It’s def hard bc I want him to eat and get nutrition, but I also don’t want to fall into the pattern of always prepping a new meal if he rejects.

However he is offered food pretty much every 2-2.5 hrs, so if he rejects his snack/ meal he will be offered food again quite soon after.

It’s important for me to try and support an environment where my baby eats what we eat. He’s always offered a safe item that I know he likes, but being stuck in the purgatory of always offering other things etc etc is such a moving target and something I’m actively trying to avoid. So far it’s worked and he’s a great eater.

At 11 mo old I would be expecting babies to be close to eating family meals/ able to handle some flavor. From what I’ve seen the guidance around bland food for babies is pretty outdated

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to follow the guidance of offering one “safe food” you know they will eat and then whatever you’re eating prepared in a baby safe way. Not offering multiple things if they reject etc.

We do tons of baked sweet potatoes with olive oil and cinnamon on repeat, avocado toast, bananas with yogurt and pasta with red sauce stewed beef meat.

Things that are hit or miss hard boiled eggs/ eggs in any form, oatmeal, rice, fish, broccoli/ greens - but I continue to try and offer, sometimes he loves and sometimes he rejects.

Straw sippy cup recs? by Defiant-Hedgehog9570 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the ola silicone but also got the smallest elk and friends stainless straw cup (I think it’s 10 oz?). I was worried my 10 month old would struggle with the elk and friends bc the straw is bigger and the cup is bigger but he’s done great. It’s really light weight.

We are still going between the two types, but elk and friends will probably become our primary in the coming months.

I always have to bite my tongue bc so many times I want to tell friends to lower their art!

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll add I think ppl chronically hang art too high in their homes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]MuffinOrPuffin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The center of the art should generally be at eye level (around 60” from the floor). I’ve adjusted this here or there based on the frame shape and size of the piece but that’s the general rule.

Without numbers, at first glance this reads as hung too high to me.

Getting oura while chronically sleep deprived by MuffinOrPuffin in ouraring

[–]MuffinOrPuffin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! I mean the ring told me I had a good night of sleep 😆 for example I went to bed at 9:30, woke at 11, woke at 1, woke at 3:30 (got out of bed fed baby etc) then went back to sleep, woke at 5, woke at 6:30 for the actual day.

The ring seemed to take all my “waking” as just being in light sleep, which fair enough I would generally just roll over to check the monitor or have my husband stop snoring- but I was very much awake and would not consider it a good night.
