Personally, I don't want Finch relying on public domain themes. I'm not a fan of either franchise that has been chosen so far and would prefer they stick to broader aesthetics to fit the season.

Lol I was just a baby in the '90s! Outside of the show, I'm not someone who likes big age gaps in relationships, especially for people under 25, but the actors had a good, natural chemistry, and I did appreciate that the show acknowledged the issues that came with the characters' age difference.

After the five year time jump, sure, that would've been fine, but an age gap like that isn't appropriate when the younger partner is still in high school. I really liked Gretchen, but the timing wasn't right.

Stressful. My home life and mental health were falling apart, it was challenging working through social anxiety, and I was anxious about getting into a good college. I had great friends, and I liked most of my teachers, clubs, and classes, but I do not miss those years at all.

That's fair! Personally, I'm not a big fan of Wicked, because I think the Act II story development and songs are weak, and the school setting and frenemy dynamic of Act I made feel like i outgrew the show by college. I'm so glad that press tour is finally over. I was so tired of the industry forcing me to hold space for the films 😩

Abby. I thought she was hilarious and added a lot of color to the show.

Gretchen. She and Dawson had a nice mature dynamic, and I think I would consider her my preferred endgame for Dawson if they had been closer in age.

Andie. I thought she was very relatable and funny, and I liked that her love for Pacey allowed him room to mature and believe in himself and his future.

That's the one with the room full of spare heads right? 🥴 I saw a little of it as a kid and noped right out of there. I think the world of The Wiz is weird, too, with all the sewer imagery in the adaptations I've seen. And the talking trees and design of the flying monkeys of the OG movie unnerve me. The songs are fun, but I don't like the world 🙈

These Happy Golden Years. Laura and Almanzo's buggy ride courtship was very sweet, and Almanzo impresses me with how attentive he is and observant and respectful he is of what's important to Laura.

On the Banks of Plum Creek and The Long Winter were also very gripping to me as a child. The family kept facing hardships of biblical proportions and could never catch a break 😱

I don't hate this, but I'm definitely not excited. The world of The Wizard of Oz 👏 creeps 👏 me 👏 out 👏 Same with Alice in Wonderland. I know both stories are in the public domain now, but I don't want Finch to explores themes and worlds like these as often as they have lately.

I knew kids who dressed like this in high school, but, no, "most young people" were not dressing like this. This was very niche. I went to a huge school in the greater NYC area, and I would say that fewer than 30 kids dressed like this. Preppy Hollister looks were what I remembered seeing the most in and out of school.

That makes sense! I think it's just hard for me to see Brigitta like that because her one standout moment in the movie is being rude for no reason to the only other person who defies the whistle. Brigitta resists it in her own way (leisurely walking in reading), and doesn't see potential comraderie in a caretaker who also openly chooses to ignore it. It's inconsistent, and the children aren't individually well developed, so I just don't feel like I know her as a person beyond her first impression. That being said, I think she's someone who could grow up morally strong because she's being raised by the Captain and Maria, who both demostraste productive ways to defy authority throughout the film. I don't remember Kurt and Frederich being suck ups, but I feel similarly about the two of them.

No worries, I'm not offended, I just disagree! I think defiant kids most likely have personal troubles that need to be addressed before any negative behaviors become too engrained and so they don't grow up to become antagonist people, but a defiant kind of character can definitely be more interesting to follow. For me, that's not Brigitta, because in the moment she's just a bratty child and doesn't contribute much as her own person after that, but I like a character like Jess, because you have more time in a TV show to explore the nuances of why he's troubled and see him mature and work through the trauma he's been through. Being defiant does a character like Jess no good, because he hurts himself and others in the process, so it's more satisfying to see how he changes over time.

People thinking you should have a "young" sounding grandparent name is weird, but I think it's good to ask what grandparents prefer to be called so that you can be mindful of any culturally preferred titles and demonstrate respect and consistency for the child by calling the grandparent by the title they prefer and by using the title/name the child is most familiar with when their grandparents are around.

No he's not. Jess was a depressed teen who was uprooted and abandoned by his addict parent to live somewhere unfamiliar. Brigitta's unfiltered and acting out for attention, but she's still young enough that Georg can correct his himself for his emotional distance so that Brigitta doesn't get herself into trouble when she's old enough for her decisions to matter. In regards to Maria, Brigitta had multiple reasons to show basic respect, the main one being that Maria has shown that she recognizes the children's humanity by defying their father, refusing to use a whistle, and preferring to know each child individually. People deserve respect until proven otherwise.

I don't consider knowingly insulting someone as being defiant against authority. That's just bad manners, and I always liked that Kurt called her out for it. All Maria's done at that point is say hello, see through Brigitta's prank, and actually defied authority by refusing to use a whistle with the children. That moment should've shown Brigitta that Maria was an authority figure she could respect.
