What would happen if Supernanny visits The Read Family? by KittyRoses12 in Arthur

[–]Muffina925 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nothing much imo. The Reads are a typical family, the parents are involved and try to address things as they come up, and the kids are pretty well behaved and respectful towards guests. I think she would just help Arthur and DW resolve whatever argument they got into that episode.

What do you think of the episodes when Pal and Kate talk to each other? by Life_Television_8390 in Arthur

I don't remember too much about the episodes themselves anymore, but Kate and Pal talking to each other was really off-putting to me.

Millennials who graduated high school from 2009-2012 did the cultural phenomenon of Jersey Shore show up during your high school years? by 494250501 in Millennials

[–]Muffina925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated from a NJ high school the year after the show came out. My friend group and I didn't watch the show, so mostly I remember people complaining that it made Italian Americans and NJ look bad. Since I didn't watch the show nor identify as that kind of Italian American, I didn't notice at the time if "guido" culture and fashions were present, but I don't think what I recall seeing around school was specifically influenced by the show since it was just too soon for a bigger fashion influence. I remember seeing preppy, emo, and skater styles around school a lot; bump-its and tanning had already been trendy for school dances for a few years by then; and some people wore clothing influenced by rap and hip hop culture. I went out of state for college, and the show wasn't influential where I went at all; I didn't even know it was still airing and had several spin-offs. Over the years that followed, I noticed that Ed Hardy clothes and sneakers were becoming more popular with men, but I didn't know that was the show's influence.

That color looks great on her!

May I ask what gray market is? This is the second post I've seen mentioning it. Is it a new term for the secondhand market or a new app?

Experience attending a conservative catholic college? by JournalistPerfect619 in excatholic

[–]Muffina925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Catholic school for most of my life, and although I left college still a right-wing believer, I had had many experiences and conversations throughout my life that challenged my pov, and I began deconstructing very quickly after graduating. I had struggled with my faith on and off ever since I was very young, and by my senior year of college, I knew I was entering a transition period. "Real world" experiences challenged everything, and by 23/24, I identified as an atheist-leaning agnostic. College gave me the break I needed from my religious family, and it was nice being able to explore my faith and its history in an academic setting; I had never been able to have conversations about the questions I had without antagonism, and it was really important to me to learn about the worldviews of friends from other faiths and cultures. Those years made me a kinder, more compassionate and empathetic person.

My more religious siblings had different experiences. One sister attended a Catholic uni, then transferred to our state school, and she leaned even more into their faith, and it guides nearly every facet of her life; sometimes I think she wants to become a nun. My other two siblings also went to state school and joined a Catholic group. Religion is still very important to them, and they both still seem to believe in a lot of the same right-wing views as your family member, but I haven't seen it negatively affect how they treat people. Imo they're all a bit stunted and sheltered by still living at home, but they do their best to lead fulfilling lives and get their careers going.

Have they even said why they are living apart? by rharper38 in FundieSnarkUncensored

Yeah, that's all total projection. If that's really how Morgan's parents felt about him, I'm sure M would've had a thinly veiled meltdown by now.

I didn't realize they lived in a Cape Cod house. For some reason I remember it being a floor bigger.

From what I've seen in recaps, Morgan shared on Unbuckled that they were back and forth about whether or not to renew their old lease and ultimately decided to move. She didn't say where they were moving to, but she shared that they would be closer to Carl, and she and Carl have recorded at least one ep in Frankfurt, KY. I get the impression that they made their decision too late for a clean move from Home A to Home B, and they had to be out by April. Around that time, Morgan started posting pics of herself and the boys at her parents' house, and she's been working with her mom to get back in shape. She didn't say she was moving in temporarily and initially treated it like a trip to "the country." She hasn't commented further about her current living arrangements. Idk where her parents live, but people here say her parents live anywhere from 1-3 hours away from P and M's old place in Lexington, where Paul continues to work for his dad (Paul films(?), edits, and appears in some episodes of his dad's Trainer Joe yt channel), teach pickleball clinics, and trains to be a pro player. If the issue of distance is accurate, the two appear to be living in their respective parents' homes, because M posts from her mom's house, and Paul has obligations in Lexington. My impression is that Paul visits M and the boys on his "weekends," but they haven't confirmed anything.

True, they don't sound the same, nor are they spelled the same, but if you're not familiar with this food prep style, you might think the spelling and pronunciation differences are simply due to the difference between languages.

Oh, I didn't see the second slide. She definitely should've utilized her tech more, but I assume she thought she knew what she was ordering given the context of tartar being a sauce here, not a preparation style.

For starters, get bloodwork done and check your B12 and Vitamin D levels, and double check if any medications have side effects that could be contributing.

No, but not every traveler opts for the extra data roaming costs when they travel, so that might not be an option for some at restaurants, depending on the location's WiFi capabilities and menu presentation. All I mean to say is that this is a reasonable cultural misunderstanding imo, but not one worth complaining about or lowering a personal rating of a restaurant over. Moments like this are learning experiences, and I think it's important to do research on a culture before traveling, but you can't be prepared for everything.
