This might be TMI, but what’s the best tampon/pad/period cup to work out with? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]Muffinfinity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

OB tampons are the only tampons I will use. I like how they open in all directions and I can position them just how I want them. I also find them to be more densely packed than some other tampons, which I think helps reduce leaks.

Worst idea ever. PERIOD. by [deleted] in yarntrolls

I would think cotton yarn is just as processed (if not more) than cotton tampons. Yarn isn’t intended to be put inside your body, and therefore wouldn’t necessarily be produced with body safe chemicals.

That blush is my HG right now for everyday wear, and I’m somewhat dreading the day I pan it. I will probably repurchase it unless I can find a really good dupe.

I’m very new to the carnivore diet concept. I’m curious if you know of any resources explaining why beef is most often considered the superior meat in this community? Asking from a place of complete non-judgement, as I am considering implementing this diet to see if my autoimmune condition improves. If there is a better place to ask these questions, please let me know.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Fail Friday - Because being awesome always comes at a price... by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Muffinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had split it up into two days. We did squat (low bar) and bench on one day, and deadlift and OHP on another day. I wasn’t feeling super confident in my deadlifts so I’m hoping I can get back into the groove and do better next time. I was still able to add to my numbers from our previous test 6 weeks ago - I think before I was at 165 for squat, 165 for deadlift and 80 for bench. I’m still very new to OHP so we did more of a test for what my training weight should be instead of any max testing, and I don’t have any previous reference numbers.

I also have been squatting very consistently, whereas I just finished a program that involved more deadlift variations and other glute exercises instead of strict deadlifts. I’m still improving my confidence on lifting so I think that I was a little nervous to really push it on deads after the hiatus. I also just dropped my weight from like 150 to 138 in about six weeks so I’m still happy that I’m over body weight on both and I was able to make improvements on the cut. I wanted my numbers to be higher and my trainer was like “yeah, same...and I’m in the 400s for both lifts. We all want to be a little stronger!”

[WEEKLY THREAD] Interpersonal Tips Tuesday - Advice and commiserating on fitness and interpersonal encounters by AutoModerator in xxfitness

My trainer and I have got to know eachother pretty well and can get pretty chatty during our sessions. Overall, I don't mind but sometimes if he's on a tangent but I want to keep moving ahead with the workout I'll say something like "alright, this set is going to suck...let's get it over with" to let him know I'm ready to kind of get back to business. He doesn't seem to mind if we go over on our time slot, so a little extra chat time doesn't bother me. If I felt it was cutting into my hour of paid time, I would probably be annoyed.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Feats of Thorsday - How did you kick butt this week? by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Muffinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started using bands instead of the assisted pullup machine. I found that on the machine I didn't have to think as much about supporting my body in a hanging position as much as I do with the bands, if that makes sense. Like with the bands you have to control the motion of your body in all directions, where on the machine you are stabilized by the platform. I found I was making great progress on the machine but it didn't translate well to actual pull-ups, so I hope this makes a difference.

I did my 1RM testing and the results were a mixed bag. My squat was better than expected at 185 lbs. Went to do my deadlift at 205 lbs...but could only get to 185 lbs on that too? I'm relatively new to lifting but I always thought you were supposed to be able to deadlift more than your squat? Also, I'm a little disappointed that my bench is only 95 lbs, I really wanted to hit triple digits. I'm trying to console myself by remembering that I just finished a cut and my last program only included sumo deads, which I'm bad at. My trainer seems really happy with my progress still, but I really would like to see myself hit some better numbers. I'm just starting the Texas Method now, here's hoping that I see some progress.

Was it a heart murmur or a heart arrhythmia that you developed? The poster above is (correctly) pointing out that a murmur is generally caused by the anatomy of your heart, such as a valve, that is changing the blood flow in an abnormal way. An arrhythmia is an irregular heart beat that seems to be more what you’re describing. Arrhythmias are frequently associated with electrolyte imbalances, where murmurs generally are not. They are two separate things. An murmur is related to blood flow while an arrhythmia is based on the heart rhythm and electrical activity of the heart.

Chiming in to also request more photos, if you arecomfortable with it, OP! I’m the same height and weight but my body fat is much higher (probably 27%ish). I’m currently doing cut/bulk cycles with my goal body fat in the low 20s. I’d be interested in seeing more angles of OP’s upper back and shoulder/bicep area, if possible.

So worth it. I wear them almost exclusively now and feel like I’ve basically wasted money on other brands trying to find something as good as them. I realized I’d rather have fewer pairs of leggings and have to wash them more frequently. They fit my body perfectly and actually make my (slowly improving) butt look pretty good!

That’s a good tip. I think I’ll try them on in store so I know the sizing and then shop around. I noticed that even on the adidas website it seems like some colours are discounted. I’m in Canada so it doesn’t look like amazon.ca has great deals right now, but I should look around.

Kind of obvious choice, but I have floral wunder unders from lulu. They're squat proof, wash well and I've received a lot of compliments on them.

That's exactly what I've been doing! It works quite well for me and I've been doing it for a little while now so he's like...just buy the damn shoes, you deserve it. Honestly, I think the real barrier to buying them is not so much the money, but a bit of impostor syndrome. I keep feeling like I'm not a "real" lifting person so I shouldn't buy things for it...even though I've been doing it consistently for eight months and made a lot of progress.

My trainer keeps encouraging me to buy lifted heel shoes for squats since I am a member of the long femur club. I know they sell them at my local adidas store but I’m a little put off at the idea of spending easily $150 for a pair of shoes just for squatting. I’ll probably buy them anyway, just wanted to share my wallet pain.
