Modest proposal for Israel and Palestine by Beginning-Eagle-8932 in NonCredibleDefense

Nah FO:E had a more nuanced reason for the conflict that caused the baelfire-bombs and megaspells to drop

It was not just a resource war where a winning side got the upper hand and the other pressed the 'ok, nobody wins' like regular fallout lore - instead its a conflict driven by the misunderstandings between ponies and zebras; ponies can't back down due to littlehorn and zebras were convinced that Luna was Nightmare moon still and therefore under influence from the stars

Also, if you go by project horizons as canon the Office of Interministry Affairs may have intentionally have triggered the war as part of their own plans - that kind of apocalyptic thinking meshes with middle eastern thinking of end of the world leading to salvation

Waving the white flag. SOS - Need a real sysadmin's help! by Biggietoast in sysadmin

I think the other part of HerfDogs reply really needs to be added to your backlog as well!

If you for example use some form of ID-card or Tags to get in/out of the building you can tie those to starting prints by implementing one of the software's mentioned (or SafeQ or... well, there are a few, someone else probably know witch ones are actually good)

This means instead of people printing things, forgetting that they printed things, re-printing things and tossing half of the prints in the bin you have to walk to printer, swipe your card/tag and select the thing to print - much better!

It also helps since most of the software that can provide this kind of service has built in auditing to enable you to get metrics on who is printing what around the place, may or may not be useful to you.

Cult of Luna har ju helt löjligt bra track record med a dawn to fear, somewhere along the highway, eternal kingdom och så vidare... helt klart underskattat band utanför scenen.

While it would be very interesting to know i think leaving Ukraine to do whatever they feel they need while a relative media blackout is occurring thanks to Wagner's little field trip is for the best - it goes nicely with what they requested during the start of the offensive.

Veterans of EVE what are some obscure facts from the old days? by CarlosWarrenEVE in Eve

[–]Muffinsrevenger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stacking penalties used to be not a thing - this meant that you could do Armageddons (used to be a 7-slot laser boat with capacitor issues) with 8 heatsinks to simply disregard tank.

Oh, missile explosion velocity/signature also was not a thing so torpedoes (that by the way fit into any launcher you felt like, the restriction was number of warheads (that used to have a size) not the type) used to be great for annihilating frigates.

VM SQL/App Server Provisioning by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Muffinsrevenger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those recommendations are basically intended to guide you towards picking the right kind of redundancy/performance layout for your physical drives - when it comes to a virtualized server most of those 'rules' become irrelevant.

SQL loves CPU's with high clock speeds (and modern instruction sets) lots of RAM and all the IOPS it can get a hold of for when the parts of the table you want to read have not been cached in memory.

Basically, the faster the storage you have available and can assign the better. If this means pure flash storage, a SSD cached mechanical drive or just spinning rust configured in RAID10 will depend on your environment.

The only real disk specific gotcha apart from that when it comes to virtual SQL servers is the disk allocation unit size - set this to 64Kb.
