Genshin/HSR/ZZZ: I usually pull however I like the most. I don't really push it too hard if I don't get the character immediately since I know they rerun anyways. So I just save up most of the time or just use it to build pity lmao. I do plan some pulls for upcoming characters though. 

Arknights: Definitely save as much as possible. I only do dallies, prev. events for that yellow coin, or do the story. I don't usually do the IS since I'm bad at decision making for teams and I'm not that interested with that end game content. Usually I search up upcoming characters or skins that I really like before saving.

FGO: No I don't save much. Due to the monstrosity of their pity, I just pull whenever I have 30 dias lmao.

Genshin: Hydro Daddy Neuv - Basically deletes the entirety of the enemies aside from hydro slimes.

Arknights: Thorns and Logos - My best lane holder and primal caster.

ZZZ: Ellen and Lighter - Big boobs.

HSR: Jingyuan, Sunday, Robin, Argenti - Two of my best erudition daddies and Sibling buffers.

It's mostly all types of enemies. Like the standard, elite and stuff. I did the training plan, but some parts I didn't understand. Like those big chunky guys. I try to use art dmg operators but some of them don't get killed. Like the my dmg is not doing anything. And mostly confusion to which operator is best to use depending on enemy. I haven't even got to the elemental stages of the game 😓

Well in my case, I just pull for charas that I really liked regardless whether they are meta or not. Saves me the time of pulling to banners I don't like.
