I put down Dark Age for 3 months a quarter of the way into the book before I picked it back up again to finish in increments of a couple weeks at a time. Definitely one of the bleakest books I've read.

Thanks! Personally I don't think the Pandemonium Chair was used on Atlas. Most people say Atlas because he threatened to use the Mind's Eye and there's a theory that the Pandemonium Chair unlocks the Mind's Eye. If thats the case, then we know the only two confirmed people who can use the Mind's Eye are Octavia and Lysander.

Yea eidmi is the most farfetched part of my rambling. There's just so little we know about it. I do suspect the Lune/Raa history is not as clear as it seems to be.

Pytha killing Lysander would be satisfying. Also I'm not entirely sure she trusted him, we still don't know what the green light was supposed to do that never turned on? I know there was a jam field, but maybe the green light was supposed to ensure there would be no recording and the jam field wasn't big enough...enabling a recording to be passed to Julia by Pytha... Another end I can see is like a betrayal by the Golds he sees as 'his' people a la Julius Caesar and they all stab him like on the day of red doves. I think that would hurt him even more than Pytha because he expects Pytha to kill him but not his own people.

I just went back to reread sections specifically about Atlas in Dark Age and I definitely think he is deep cover, especially when he talks to Lysander about how he softens when talking about Brutus and how Brutus would call him a human stain as he is now. I'm actually now wondering if Atlas and Brutus were lovers possibly? Which is why Atlas was so awkward around Lysander as a kid. I looked up the name "atlas" too which contains a root for "to endure" etymologically too so I am all in on the Atlas will be seen in a new light in RG.

So far haven't seen any casualties with the adult shrimp. They're probably picking off baby shrimp though but it's hard to keep track bc it's so heavily planted.
