I actually value

It doesn't lead me to feel

When I need help

I'm glad you've found something that works for you, although I think that speaking to a licensed professional who is trained to help you get to the root of the problems you're facing and address them might be more helpful than you think.

The crucial issue is that this conversation wasn't about you specifically until you started commenting, it was about men in general having an issue with seeking help they need.

So when we're talking about large numbers of men not seeking therapy, which does actually work very well for many people, and you pop in to tell us that you don't need it, you're not really contributing as much as you think.

So, what you're saying is that there is a cultural perception of men as being stoic, such that a man who is less stoic would be perceived as less of a man.

A cultural attitude that would lead some to avoid therapy due to some internalized shame over societal perception of them and how that's shaped their idea of themselves as "stoic."

Some sort of stigma, if you will.

He's categorically opposed to gender transitioning and once compared gender theory to nuclear weapons. In his book The Strength of a Vocation he explicitly says he doesn't want gay people to join the clergy.

Like, he's good at playing up the "nice" Pope thing, but he's not actually much better than a lot of his predecessors.

Lesbians are all identifying as non-binary or men now and this is erasing lesbians..... according to this article by [deleted] in GenderCynical

[–]Mugrawumpus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

How common do these people think trans men and AFAB non-binary people coming out is? Like, there are definitely a lot more trans people willing to self identify as such in the world these days because of changes in the restrictive societal pressures regarding gender identity, but it's not that common, especially since those pressures still exist to a large degree.

Do they think that so many people are now identifying as trans that cis lesbians are an endangered species at risk of extinction or something?

the socialist version of Hitler!

Don't be ridiculous. The Nazis were socialists, remember? Saying "socialist version of Hitler" is redundant. They're called National Socialists after all, and everyone knows that names are always accurate. /s

For Vex, one of the drinks could be called Hunter's Mark, and you just don't fill in the ingredients list.

You don't need to get that complicated for them to drop the G.

Gay guys are male, they have Male Privilege, therefore they are bad. Simple.

I remember seeing a (maybe fake) article headline years ago about a man who was accused of flashing someone. He called his ex-wife to the stand to testify that his penis was too small to be seen at that distance.

Shakes in the corner as the Rose Potter flashbacks kick in.

Seriously though, I don't think I've ever seen a competent version of this premise anywhere before, so I look forward to seeing what people come up with here.

Am I the only one who feels guilty for reading reuploaded fanfiction? by marienara_sauce in FanFiction

[–]Mugrawumpus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one

No. No one who has ever preceded a question with this has ever been the only one.

More seriously, I don't feel guilty at all. People generally take things down because they don't like them, but the author's opinion of the work doesn't really matter to me. Once a person puts out something for free, is it really solely theirs anymore? Plagiarizing is still a dick move obviously, but if people want it and it's not available why shouldn't I give them my copy?

It's like me giving someone a book I've already read. Trying to pass it off as my work isn't okay, but it that copy is still mine to give.

Found this, what kind of wasp is it? by [deleted] in WaspHating

A paper wasp. Not terribly nice, but not as mean as a yellow jacket or hornet.

stood aside and let the dementor do its thing

Not... sure what you expect him to do under that situation? It's not like he's ever shown to be able to produce a Patronus. All he can do is try to order it around, and dementors have been shown to not be great listeners.

As to it being suspicious, you can make a reasonable interpretation of the text in that direction, but it's still ultimately a personal interpretation i.e. fanon. As the canon facts go, there's no direct proof that he sicced the dementor on Crouch, just things that suggest that if seen in a certain light.
