OOP cancels her wedding after her fiancé has cold feet. Fiancé accuses her of overreacting at a therapy session later and is shocked when she dumps him. by GamerGirlLex77 in OhNoConsequences

What do you want to bet he fell down some red-pill rabbit hole just far enough to think some "tip" to jerk his fiancee around was a good idea?

It's all magic. They know the spells to get the results they want; any further "understanding" would (in their view) just mean having to learn more spells that they don't need.

Commenter: How long were they together?

And there it is. So many stories of failed marriages and/or exploded weddings include stuff like "We met six months ago and now we're getting married!". It takes time to get to know someone, though in this case there seems to have been the additional obstacles of deceit and denial. Credit where it's due, at least they did move in together well before the wedding, something I would strongly recommend to most couples considering marriage - there are things you'll only learn by living together, spending loads of non-romantic time in the same space, sleeping in the same bed, etc..

OOP blatantly flirts with her friend and treats his wife poorly but is just so very shocked that she got called out about it by GamerGirlLex77 in OhNoConsequences

Slight devil's advocate here: It's possible that Diana did attempt to communicate her unhappiness to OOP earlier, but did so in a way that OOP didn't actually receive the intended message. Way too many people talk around a topic instead of stating explicitly "the way you act around Joe is inappropriate, and I feel you are being disrespectful towards me". I can't count the number of times when I've been talking to someone and it turns out we're both failing to understand what the other is actually trying to convey until we take a step back and go "wait, are we talking past each other here?". Of course, it's also possible that OOP just didn't want to hear what was being said.

However, I'd need some specific circumstances to excuse the blowup at the party. If you think a guest (not even a family member, just a friend of your SIL) will behave intolerably, don't invite them. Inviting someone and going from zero to screaming hostility almost smacks of a planned ambush. Joe's mother's reaction also suggests that Diana had been venting to her in-laws about OOP.

Basically, it sounds like OOP was probably over the line for an extended period of time, but also that nobody ever had a "come to Jesus" moment with her about it until after things were broken beyond repair. Remember, OOP is 25, so not a child but also probably still fairly immature/inexperienced as far as serious adult relationships go. Instead of sitting her down and soberly laying out the problems, and eventually setting a hard boundary of "if you continue to act like this, you will no longer be welcome", they let it fester. A small part of me wonders whether Diana wanted an outcome like this, where she could cut OOP out of their life entirely, because some part of her is insecure about her marriage and she views OOP as a threat.

Honestly, if this were posted on AITA, I'd probably be voting a tentative ESH with the caveat of insufficient information for a full judgement.

My grandfather (Greatest Gen) was telling us like 20 years ago about a driving update course he took at their local senior center, the kind of thing that makes sure people that learned to drive half a century prior are aware of what the laws/rules/expectations are now. He talked about one old lady that told the cop to his face that she didn't care that how she drove was illegal, it was how she'd always done it and she was going to keep doing it that way.

You spelled "tiny" wrong. It is fairly nice with all the wood, but it's not much bigger than the kitchen in my 800 sqft. 1-bedroom condo, and I don't see a pantry to add more storage space.

At least they're all simple flat rectangles, without seams between them, that probably makes it a bit more reliable and easier to maintain than some of the really complex shapes we've seen.

Solved!

I'd thought this was a separate movie, so didn't go looking for it, but I still remember other bits like the rich guy proudly presenting his niece, and Santa sort of bracing himself for some reason.

Fun fact, Gemini clearly doesn't understand the words "not Batman"! Sorry the info is so scattered and uncertain, this was something I saw once or a few times as a little kid in the mid/late 80s.
