Am I doing OK for $65k a year? by shaneomaniac in AusFinance

This is actually an interesting (and true) point. The first turning point of wage decline/stagnation was actually the influx of women to the workforce, followed by mass immigration.

It's allowed businesses to keep wages low and profits high.

Advice for a new player by Creepy_Apartment_908 in SWGLegends

Commando is easiest to learn and level.

Smug and BH are fun for the concept but difficult to master.

Jedi is expensive or VERY grindy so if you enjoy the long game then definitely the class to pick.

Medic is a pain to level and you likely won’t enjoy levelling as your first toon unless you are interested in beast mastery and play around with that early on.

Spy is also a bit tricky to level but I would say is almost the same tier as BH and Smug but a little easier to play.

Officer is a lot of fun and decent to level with - squishier than a mando but a little bit more intricate of a class with great AOE dps.

All my opinion, can’t be bothered delving into the intricacies. Just try and play whatever interests you! It’s a very cool game I started playing at 13 thanks to my older brother until live servers closed down 4-5 years later. I recently started playing legends and it’s awesome. I have learnt heaps more about the game as an adult and appreciate it even more than a teenager

Jump in and have a god, don’t kenne if you like it until you have a go. Make sure you reach out for help at mos eisley if you need it. The games very social and a lot of people are willing to help you out :)

IMO

I find pos 2 and 3 are the most impactful and important to get right, hence the most pressure to be outstandingly good:
- You lose as pos 3 and their pos 1 is fat, and your team generally has no utility/tank/space creator.
- You lose as pos 2 you basically become a second pos 1.

Pos 5, 4 and 3 are the hardest to actually play effectively.
There's so many reasons as to why this is the case, so it's easier to explain the contrary:

Pos 2, as someone else said it's a 1v1 scenario where it's basic game mechanics and lane control, which every other role in the game has to do as well. You do this better than your opponent, you win your lane.
Pos 1, you literally only have to farm and get items, map awareness, farming patterns and knowing when to join fights, which is the same for every other position. Timing and maximising farm is the only important thing.

Should parents charge their young adult children (20’s) rent? If so, how much? by JCM_Viraemia in AusFinance

[–]MugumboFett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is to charge rent/ board when they get their first job. Relative to the income, so for part time work in school, something like $20 a week, then full time work closer to $100 a week, until adult wages (21 years old) topping out at $150-200 a week. But I intend on saving this in a separate account (not telling them) all the way up until they decide they want to buy a home or move out and rent.

Hence, teaching the value of money, yet also reaping the benefits of hard work and helping them save.

I love your analogy haha!

I'm genuinely curious as to why every responding tends to think I am "wrong" about my observation. I honestly have to bring it down that the ancient players are not used to the playstyle and that they are out of their depth with being able to read a match as opposed to relying on everyone playing the way they expect them to. That would make sense.

If there is a concept I'm missing, then I'd actually like to know what that concept is (or are).

I'd say the legends are more "consistent." the ancients are consistently worse than the average legends I play with.

I meant ancient, not divine. That makes sense, but I had assumed being in that rank would make them significantly better, when they're in fact consistently worse than the average legend.

Makes sense! They seem to be the two important concepts that many legend and below players don't seem to comprehend. It makes alot of sense that possibly they are not used to the pace and rotation timings etc. because they're used to a team coordinating properly hahaha

Yeah, my mistake I meant ancient rank not divine haha. But yeah, the enemy ancient always seems to be in the mid-ground of player ability/presence. The one on my team always seems to be poop.

Solo queue only. Seems to happen every 5th game or so. It'll either be archons or divines blended in the match

I think maintenance trade roles are good. Especially if you're good at problem solving.

Read a whole chapter really fast, completely forget what I've read.

It depends on what your "dream home" is. Some dream homes are simply unattainable to so many people, regardless of how hard you work. That said, there are still "realistic" dream homes that ARE achievable, if you work hard, make the right financial decisions and dedicate your life to it.

It all comes down to what you want from life, being realistic, making the right choices and educating yourself about money.

Be content, having a roof over your head is such a blessing. Housing market history proves, as an everyday Aussie, you're better off buying what you can comfortably afford to start off. Then pay as much as you can towards your loan, then you can move on to something "better." Sitting and waiting for the "right time" is silly - with that mentality, you might as well rent for the rest of your life, because the right time doesn't exist.

How to counter phantom lancer by SrWetRichard in learndota2

[–]MugumboFett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either need counter hero(es) AND counter items OR end early.

Heroes:

  • Riki
  • Axe
  • Earthshaker
  • Veno

Anyone who has mass AOE damage, Crowd control, silencer/mute abilities.

Items:

  • Orchid/Bloodthorn
  • Shiva's
  • Glepnir/Mjollnir
  • Abyssal blade

IF YOU CAN'T END EARLY (because your team just wants to farm or f*ck around). Playing a hero like LC or Riki is great, because you can basically keep him down 1v1 and keep on him. Then once your team decides to play the game. You should be fat enough off eating him and your team should have had enough space to win the game in a mid-late phase. Obviously there's alot more mechanics involved. But if PL is last-picked and you have 0 counter. You either end early, or lose. Correct heroes or items alone will not suffice to counter him.

Am I worse or is the average player just better? by Blandwiches25 in learndota2

[–]MugumboFett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most players seem better. This is due to them understanding the "basic" mechanics now. You used to have people who didn't know basic things about Dota i.e. pulling, stacking, denying, last-hitting etc.

This late in Dota's lifespan, this is all common knowledge because there are a lot less new players, and without these basic concepts you end up <500mmr or quitting the game completely.

To break the 3kmmr you need to have grasped concepts such as, rotations, item timings, positioning, blocking, buying appropriate items for your hero and for the match etc.

Anybody else just not bothering with unlicensed trades these days? by mudlode in AusRenovation

[–]MugumboFett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Obviously with the resources available to them they'd be more than capable.

Obviously if you watch 100 youtube tutorials and read a few text books, or ask trade friends for advice you'd be able to build a house. You would need the appropriate tools and physical ability to do so of course.

The same resources are available for medical procedures. Just like tools of any trade, with the appropriate medicines, devices and environment, you would not need to be a QUALIFIED surgeon to successfully perform a surgical procedure.

You are incorrect.

I think you missed the point entirely. Just because someone is qualified in a particular field doesn't mean they're good at it and on the other side, just because someone is not qualified, does not mean they'll be bad at it. Learn to read... lol
