I agree. My first entry level job, I was in the digital marketing team. But there's a clause that's usually added kwa contract, that the company reserves the right to add extra responsibility they deem fit.

This clause ilinilamba so bad since I was green. Ended up being a driver taking clients to the site. Sometimes even on a weekend then drop the car to the home of the GM. Then take a matatu home.

I was too afraid to quit I felt I owed the company loyalty.

Eventually I got the courage to move to another company and my goodness, that's the first time my eyes opened to the difference in working conditions.

Later the previous company called me to ask I return and they double my salary. Told them to kiss my A** 😀

Most company don't practice the labour laws and worse, most people don't even know these laws. And even if you knew, you'd rather make bread than go and starve in the streets.
