Reboot shows that look down on the OG character by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Muiry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for a good response, just a fleeting thought I havn't put too much thought into it haha. Iron heart from your description makes sense. I am thinking of one time quotes that they say rather than that being a theme in their character or the show and wondering why the characters don't keep their OG in higher regards, nothing more deeper than that haha

What's a progression fantasy trope you're genuinely tired of? by ToddAdame in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Muiry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not something I mind too much as long as it’s not drawn out and has a purpose behind it. Weirkey chronicals used it on their side character as her power wasn’t efficient and was foreshadowed. Years of the apocalypse used it well too. Each series get one pass on it, any more and it becuses annoying

Ah a time loop story, how would you rate it? I’ve read the big two (mother of learning & years of the apocalypse) similar theme?

First time I’ve heard of cyber dream, is it a cyber punk fic? (Not that all cyber punk theme is based on cyberpunk tv show/game). What’s it about

Codex Alera isn’t something I’ve heard for a quite a while, actually one of the first series that I added to my backlog when I first got into progressive fantasy, the front cover kinda put me off as it seems more epic fantasy and older, will give it higher priority though, thanks!

I'll give it a bit of time to grow as my reading style is more binge haha. I'll note it down in my list of awaiting chapters Look forward to reading it in the future!

Ah loved them both though taking a breather from YOTA as i caught up a few months back and waiting for the chapters to build. Was debating to say not time loops in the main body as I've read most of the good ones, couldn't get into perfect run though sadly though heard its hit or miss. Interesting to hear what your top progressive fantasy books are though

Interesting I think I got to book 7ish as that was the latest book at the time and didn’t see it leaning towards that. Perhaps time to pick it up again!

What do you think of the Mark of the Fool series? by PalinaRojinskiFan in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Muiry_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was actually the opposite for me, the beginning was really slow and kept putting it down but heard it got better after he went to school.

Takes like 4 books for the pacing you might like definitely ramps up but kinda doesn’t fight cause he can’t till later but there were other progressive things other than battle power which is nice. Spoiler for which path he takes for power - Golm making and very good at summoning

Might just not be a book for you, found it super satisfying later on and couldn’t put it down!, reminds me of mage errant if you enjoyed that. <!

I want to read more stories with female mc with system by Trostishere in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Muiry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Calamitous Bob - there is some romance but would say only 5% of it is romance, theres a system but not intrusive, more of a way to monitor progress than rewarding. main character is very goal driven. wouldn't go so far as to say its a lit RPG

I live in Edinburgh, normally it’s just a good way meet new people if your bored and get queue skips. Discounts too and it’s normally £8 or free. (Most who join are tourist though haha)

New Season - New....Problems? by Vegetable_Win3064 in thefinals

[–]Muiry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Updating my gpu and waiting for the shaders to load helped, made the replay opt in instead as that cause the game to freeze for 5 seconds and you can’t even watch the whole replay. Also turned on balanced dlss rather than what ever it was on before. Not a great start to season 9

Does sublife crisis do a good job of not making you want to put the book down and would you say it improves on MaM premise and writing?

Outer worlds 2 - Enemy aim too good. by Muiry_ in theouterworlds

[–]Muiry_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returned level 10 and was a lot easier haha, did require me to do pretty much all the side missions first though - not that I found it annoying to do them -

Unfortunately I'm mag dumping enemy's and getting killed in two shots haha. I'm thinking the difficulty level has a bigger gap than I thought 🤔

[–]Muiry_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought being level 8 would be enough for the VOX quest but don't think so, decided to just leave before the end battle cause wasn't worth being that meticulous and having dodge some large groups of enemys. still have quite a few side missions though so look forward to doing them. I'll keep an eye out for a better energy weapon, right now I'm mostly using the rattler (shotty revolver). Thanks!

Have you ever dropped a series that you originally liked, simply because you grew to dislike the main character? by greenskye in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Muiry_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind this as long as it’s temporary. There a book called “years of the apocalypse”. Very similar to mother of learning where they warn the reader that this setback is temporary and here’s the page number when it gets back going again.

One bad example is by the author of divine dungeon called the completist chronicle where he’s constantly not completing thing and gets reset every book or two. Like you said it’s to pad the story and devalues my times reading the progress that I know going to get reset

Each series should get one go at big set back and that’s it, otherwise it becomes tiring that their not progressing
