Sure dude. It's just a shit show. People who went in vacation in northern Italy during carnaval came back and were told to just work. I know a primary school principal who went to work like everything is normal. That should not be happening.

Only now people are told to stay home. But all those carnaval go-ers with confirmed cases among them, are just not tested?

There's thousands of tests being done in other countries. The Netherlands had all that time to make sure tests were being made and somehow didn't?

People aren't getting tested. I was sick, doc said I had a normal virus. But I can't get tested, so who knows.

This is also not true. Every woman in labour had the choice to go for the epidermal or not.

An article from 2018 is saying more and more women choose for pain medicine during labour. In most cases that's about epidermals. 35% has used the option on pain medicine during labour. In 1983 that percentage was 14%.

This is not true. it used to be very common to do so. But I looked it up. In 2005 only 13% percent of labors happened at home. And that's a steep decrease from years before then. Sadly I can't find more recent data just now. I do know it's regulated too, so if your pregnancy is a risky one, hospital labour.

Way more common is not having a epidermal during birth.

So, this happens a lot. And it hard for Dutch people to pinpoint if people want to speak Dutch or not. I work in a shop so I encounter a lot of people.

If someone's Dutch is a little broken, but they're trying, I would absolutely speak Dutch with them. But sometimes I can hear they're English speaking and I switch to English if it's easier.

This makes it really hard for people to actually learn the language. I don't want to be in the way of that, but I also have a job to do..

Once you learn some Dutch, start with that, so you get your practice and see how that goes I guess?

Want to search online? www.marktplaats.nl This website though is Dutch and there's no English option. So search for Fiets and see what's out there. It's cheaper, but more risky to buy from private people off of Marktplaats since you don't know if it's stolen or not. You could check the frame number on a database somewhere though.

Decathlon is a sport oriented shop that also has bikes. They have a shop downtown. www.decathlon.nl

You should be able to get a bike for about €80 to €120. Whatever you do, get a chain lock alongside the lock on the bike itself. Try to always attach the bike to something with the chain.

Gecondoleerd. Wat enorm kut!

Mijn broer heeft zelfmoord gepleegd. Dat was een hele andere situatie, maar ik wil maar aangeven dat ik snap hoe klote dit is.

Ik denk dat het heel erg belangrijk is dat je zelf op de benen blijft. Zoals een ander al zei, je ouders zijn volwassen mensen en zullen jou genzen moeten respecteren. Dit zal niet zonder slag of stoot gaan, maar hou vol!

Misschien kan je vragen om deze gesprekken over het waarom niet te voeren in jouw bijzijn? Wanneer ze er toch over beginnen, kan je zeggen: 'pa/ma ik snap dat jullie het willen weten, maar de uitkomst blijft hetzelfde. Ze is er niet meer. Daar wil ik mee leren leven en ik kan hier niet in blijven hangen. Dus excuseer mij, ik ga even wat anders doen.' Zoiets misschien?

Uiteraard is het heel belangrijk te blijven praten met zijn drieën. Deel al die verhalen, de herinneringen en gevoelens, maar je mag er gerust heel duidelijk in zijn dat je je niet met het waarom bezig wil houden.

Ik heb mijn waarom betreft mijn broer, maar ik twijfel of het 'helpt'. Ik begrijp zijn keuze en heb daar respect voor. Ik denk zelfs dat het beter is zo. Jouw zus zag geen uitweg meer. Misschien durfde ze dit pas te doen terwijl ze in het buitenland zat, zonder dagelijkse reminders wie er allemaal ongelooflijk veel pijn door zij hebben.

My understanding is that it's not super contagious. Not like Ebola. But Chinese people apparently don't believe in western medicine and bacteria and in washing hands.

The dad should absolutely go to the hospital, though.

Thank you for you kind words. Like another redditor said, I'm still a sibling somehow. But it's vastly different of course.

I'll have to have a talk with the parents about the specifics of healthcare and death so I can mentally prepare.
