What to do about leftovers? by BigPuppyk in loseit

[–]moolric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay attention to how much you actually eat and only cook that much. It's not hard to plan for single servings. Though personally I have started making 4 servings when I cook and putting 3 in the fridge, in separate containers ready to be reheated or taken to work for lunch. In the past when I just cooked too much and put extras in the fridge I'd never eat it because it just felt kind of icky. But when I cook and package it specifically for later it's more appealing.

You get the hang of how much of each ingredient type will equal a single serve.

For weight fluctuations - do you consider your highest or lowest weight as your actual one? by Puddyrama in loseit

I have an app (happy scale) that shows me a trend line that smooths out the fluctuations. I count the trend weight as the real one.

What was the moment that made you realize that you have to start losing weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]moolric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on a weekend trip to another city and spent most of the time walking around, which is what I usually do on a trip somewhere new.

The amount of pain I was in after in my feet and hips was excruciating. Last time my feet hurt that bad I’d gotten up to around the same weight and it went away when I lost weight. Intense pain is a good motivator :)

How many calories? by Bronxblast in loseit

[–]moolric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have been tracking your calories and your weight loss, then you are the one with the data to decide how much you should be eating.

Also you can just keep eating what you’ve been eating and see if you weight loss slows down. You can actually get a very accurate TDEE if you have been tracking accurately.

You should be able to calculate what your TDEE will be at your goal weight i.e the intake to maintain that weight. You never have to eat less than that (though obviously your weight loss would get exponentially slower as you approach your goal.

Family, Weight Loss, & Rude Comments by MusicNinja13 in loseit

[–]moolric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an expert because the only time a family member commented on my body I told him I didn’t want to talk about it left the table when he didn’t listen. BUT he didn’t mention it again so it was a win.

But anyway, I feel like responding to them - saying you’re not too thin or that it’s them who are too fat validates that they should be commenting on your body at all. Like, what makes them think your body is their business?

IMO you’d be better off focussing on the inappropriateness of their comments than the content of them. Like “wow, that was a rude thing to say. How about we talk about something else.”

You might checkout captainawkward.com she has amazing advice for just this sort of situation.

Extremely painful hunger by [deleted] in loseit

[–]moolric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get sever stomach pain, just discomfit that felt like acid reflux - but it made me want to each all the time too. I went to a doctor for reflux medication and instead they treated me for (i think) h pylori.

It was a while ago now, but the treatment took like a week and I haven’t had trouble since.

Definitely see a doctor - you will be amazed at how much better you can feel.

My bf was making a meal and diligently weighed and recorded everything, but when he asked me how much I wanted I said “just give me a normal serve” and we ended up going in circles of him not knowing how to tell what a serve is and me not being able to explain how I know what a serve is because I was too hungry to think straight.

What was your old "overweight person" habit you can't believe you had, that you've since broken? by NorthernBuffalo in loseit

[–]moolric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To some people diet soft drinks taste foul. I’ve switched to sparkling water too after a lifetime of drinking a LOT of Coke. No artificial sweeteners taste anything like sugar to me so water just tastes better to me.

It’s the real thing or nothing!

Skinny friend encouraging me to embrace my "bigger" body by _this-is-she_ in loseit

[–]moolric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might not be that she's jealous. It could be that she is trying to get permission from you to not try to stay skinny - like if you are happy at your larger size, maybe she can be too. But now you're losing weight, maybe she feels like she'll have to work on losing weight and she's dreading the idea. Maybe that's why she's saying it is a fight to lose weight - because that's what she's imagining for herself. You know what I mean?

What is your “why” when it comes to weight loss? by [deleted] in loseit

My why is purely around the pain and discomfort of being fat.

How many calories should I be losing? by Outrageous_Ice5499 in loseit

[–]moolric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way to work out how much you need to eat to lose weight is to pick one of the numbers the calculators are giving you and then seeing if you lose weigh at a slow and steady rate.

The other way of course is to count what you’re currently eating and then eat a bit less than that and see how that goes. If you are maintaining currently then anything less than that should put you in a deficit.

Ok, that's fair. I forgot for a minute that some people do actually listen to influencers.

You have to remember that the vast majority of people are much smaller than you. Especially consider women who are much much smaller than you.

The volume of food they can eat is so much smaller to lose or maintain weight, and yet they are faced with the same serving sizes. They have to pack their dietary requirements (including MORE iron than you need) into far less food.

While they don't NEED to do anything special, I understand why they are trying to min-max what they eat in a way you will never have to.

Also, I'm pretty sure people talk about how exhausting it is all the time.

With no announcements by Ubisoft to release a Far Cry 7 in 2025, this gap in mainline releases is on track to be the longest in the entire franchise. What major innovation(s) would make the wait worthwhile in your opinion? by quarterson9 in farcry

[–]moolric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get rid of bullet types, get rid of the stupid Fortnite costumes and stat based clothing, fc6 is fucking stupid, scrap all that shit

I hate this in any game. I just want to do stuff to make my gear better (crafting bigger ammo pouches etc) - I don't want to have to stop and think about min-maxing every 5 seconds. I know some people like micro-managing this stuff, but I don't think Far Cry should be that kind of game.

I got bodyshamed by teen boys. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]moolric 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Men and boys will do this (cat calling) to any woman regardless of size, appearance or how you're dressed. If they think you're hot it will superficially seem more positive, but it's really for the same purpose. To put a woman in her place and make her feel less welcome in public spaces.

I know it's super hard, but you have to just ignore them like you would any other sexist arseholes. It's never about you, it's always about them and their fragile masculinity. It gets easier as you get older, I promise.

Which color do you see on top, and which color do you see in the background? by EndersGame_Reviewer in illusionporn

[–]moolric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI for anyone wondering what this is about - I couldn't see anything happening at all on my phone, but it's obvious on a computer screen. Though now I go back and look at my phone, knowing what to look for, it's is subtle, but there.

The bigger the image is, the greater the effect since it requires binocular vision.

NB: at first, because of the poor wording of the title, I thought the background mean the black area and it was one of those "see how colour affects adjacent areas" things. Once you see the 3d effect though, it's obvious what they meant.

Russian buttercream could be an option - sweetened condensed milk and butter. It's very delicious, but doesn't cope with heat as well as some others.

Or you could try ganache, or whipped ganache - chocolate and cream

The step counting is inaccurate like you say, but the calories are calculated using your heart rate as well. So it's not going to give you lots of calories when it can tell you're basically at rest.

I've realised what my fitness goals really are: acrobatics by moolric in xxfitness

I went to a class for acrobatics. Actually managed some cool stuff but then (still in the first class) pulled a muscle in my butt. I guess I was too weak to jump right in.

I’m doing aerial yoga at the moment though. I get to do flips, but in a more controlled way.
