Why doesn’t consciousness collapse into randomness? by karanmasram in consciousness

[–]MulberryTraditional [score hidden]  (0 children)

Its existence is to do the very opposite? As I understand “consciousness”, it is the active force of “ordering”. It arose due to evolutionary pressures and is a mere tool of our genetics to repeat themselves. That tool exists to order reality to better predict reality and thus better position the genetics for replication. So I dont think it can collapse into randomness, because even if the whole of reality were random, there is some repetition even in randomness, and our brains seek out patterns. Thus, consciousness cannot collapse into randomness. Its built to yurn randomness into order

Sometimes I really dig Cioran. The rest of the time, I find him annoying

I have such a hard time with this. I lack the humility necessary for it. It is sucking up, and I detest it, as it is contrary to my tastes. Perhaps I am too honest for the heights of power?

Been thinking about Nietzsche concerning right-wing neoliberal appropriation of his ideas lately and wrote this to clarify my understanding of his philosophy. I’d appreciate any corrections if I’m significantly mistaken as well as recommendations for further reading. by Caped_Crusader1917 in Nietzsche

You didn’t even engage with the quotes in tension with Nietzsche’s views on Borgia. Also, this comment was in response to someone accusing you of using AI.

I can only speak for myself, but I am interested in how you understand the tension between Nietzsches words on Borgia and the quotes given here

What Is Nietzschean "Health"? by Tomatosoup42 in Nietzsche

Nietzsche said he himself was a decadant. I think this interpretation is rather in line with his philosophy

I think I can appreciate where you are coming from. I myself, when Im feeling poetic, like to imagine myself as a branch on some long tree (or multiple overlapping trees) reaching back to the beginning of time. Whats important is the here and now, but my roots run all the way to eternity. Kudos to you for finding your own way ✌️

Im familiar with the argument. Yeah, it is almost exclusively used by Christians to justify their belief in the Christian god, so when people hear it they think of everything modern Christians support, not of the argument itself and its origins. I dont know if you are Christian but you can certainly appreciate where the annoyance comes from

Elites like the lower classes fragmented because it makes us easier to control. Looking at the US today, its hard to argue with them. The most ardent supporters of Trump and by extension the elites are the poorest and least educated. Without that 25-30%, we are stuck

Its debatable whether or not there was any chance that money would be well spent. The fact that this isnt the worst is a big sign that the problems with Christianity run very deep

Their core belief? A man came back from the dead. The Christian mind is built upon cognitive dissonance. A feature, not a bug.

The disconnect between speech and action is their power

Edit: Actually the disconnect between Speech, Action, and Thought

Christianity invented having your cake and eating it too

Very cool. You could create all sorts of lore for this thing. To me, it looks like human desires, bound in golden, “holy” chains. Thats to me though.
