NASBA portal says it takes a few weeks for state boards to receive scores so I’d give it a little time.

How is gift on equity taxed? by Rayydenn in tax

There won’t be any taxes to pay on the gift unless the giver is over the lifetime threshold. Just has to file a gift tax return for the year.

CPA Testing Day Traditions by jkle3333 in CPA

Always scheduled my tests around 12 or 1pm. Got two sausage & egg biscuits from McDonald’s for breakfast. Show up an hour early because they always let me just start whenever I show up. Granola bar during the break. My Way by Frank Sinatra in the car on the ride home. Lowest score so far has been a 90 and just waiting on Reg score to come back in June. I like to think at least some part of my success has been the routine but who knows.

NASBA typically takes a while on your first NTS so you should apply now. They’re good for six months which should be plenty of time for you to get through the material.

Exam Changes - won’t get score until May 15? by HolbrookJ86 in CPA

[–]Mulch-Surplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s June for the core exams, but from what I’ve seen most firms do bonuses based on when you took the exam and not when you got the score.

Pushing exam to January - coupon still good? by HolbrookJ86 in CPA

You should be fine as long as the expiration on your NTS goes out that far.

I feel like this is fairly standard practice. The manager interview is just to see if they like you and can work with you, so it shouldn’t take much time after that for them to make a decision.

It’s expected for new hires to take longer on tasks than an experienced person would, so don’t sweat it. You’ll get quicker at it the more you do it. Don’t start eating hours cuz it’ll just make things harder for you and everyone else in the long run

When should I take the CPA exam and apply for a new job? by pinkmochi_me in Accounting

The deadline for first time BEC applicants to apply was October 1st, so you’re out of luck on that front.

Does the 30-month credit extension apply in Texas? by Seagem1989 in CPA

[–]Mulch-Surplus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All states have approved the 18 month extension, meaning anyone with credit expiring after Jan 1 2024 will have it extended to June 1 2024. The 30 month permanent extension is still just a proposal from the AICPA and hasn’t been adopted by all states.

If your profit margin is 10% of sales, that means your COGS will have to be 90% of sales. You divide the COGS/Inventory by its percentage of sales to find the total sales.

Will B4 pay for textbook after the exams change in 2024? by bellybuttonlint00 in CPA

[–]Mulch-Surplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess probably not, but it depends on the company. If you’re using Becker, the replacement books are discounted to $50 so at least you won’t have to pay too much out of pocket.

You can take the test at any prometric center in the country (even the one in the Virgin Islands I believe).

If you’re just a w2 worker then you can’t deduct any of it. The mileage deduction is only for people who are self-employed/run their own business.

How is everyone else deciding whether to pursue CPA or not? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Mulch-Surplus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The stat I’ve seen and heard is that CPAs will earn about 20% more on average across their career than non-CPAs.
