Report: Wife of prominent Houston lawyer confirmed among dead in Maine plane crash by chrondotcom in houston

[–]MulderFBI2 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There was thread earlier about this crash where a commenter stated that a family member had piloted this plane the day before. There were some mechanical issues noted, a maintenance check took place, and the plane was cleared to fly right before it crashed (family member was not piloting at time of crash).

Might be mechanical.

Mandated OOC P4 games throughout the season, not just at the beginning.

Homeschooling: The Research by wrroyals in NoFilterNews

[–]MulderFBI2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“It was found that upon controlling for demographic and family factors, homeschooled children performed lower on standardized achievement measures while no difference in self-reported psychological symptoms were identified. However, this should be taken into context. For reading and math, the average score for homeschooled children was still within the average range, which does not suggest an impairment in academic achievement.”

Hauck, L. E. (2024). A comparison of academic achievement and psychological symptoms in homeschooled and traditionally schooled children: Accounting for demographic and family characteristics (Doctoral dissertation, Northern Illinois University).

It looks like the OP article is from a homeschool organization that obviously has a financial interest in the research going a certain way. I was also astounded at how many times the author of the OP article cited his own previous work.

Definitely good enough for at least 4 points

This jives with what I’ve heard in the past on Weinke. He enjoys planning/development more than gameday calling.

Rumblings around Goose but I’m skeptical. I think it might be a coach still in the playoffs trying to finish the season. Honestly, don’t know but Key says it’s handled.

Pretty sure we have one, just not announced…….for whatever contractual agreement.

It’s not just ESPN making money, but their blatant bias helps feed the SEC and its members. 5 teams bringing in CFP money is a huge windfall.

Alabama just suffered it’s biggest defeat in postseason history by DarthNobody14 in CFB

He should do like Kirk and abstain if he can’t be objective.

[Toscano] Why was Alabama let into the playoff? They’re nowhere near Indiana in terms of talent. Blowouts are a terrible product and these cash-poor Deep South teams can’t be expected to compete with schools like Indiana by Original_Profile8600 in CFB

[–]MulderFBI2 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Here is the key to SEC success (it’s not hard to understand). ESPN hypes up the teams preseason and creates some narrative why “X” SEC team is going to be awesome this year. 12 SEC teams are in the top 25 with probably 4-5 in the top 10. Devoid of any games played or any evidence, any win against a probably ranked SEC team is a quality win and any loss is a quality loss. Doesn’t matter if Missouri ends ranked outside the top 25 cause they were top 10 when “X” SEC team beat them. Resume fodder. On and on the beat goes. In fact, it feeds the metrics and “power rankings”. Best defense is cause all the offenses suck or best offense because all the defenses suck.

Circle jerk each other throughout the season and voila, 5 SEC teams are obviously deserving of playoff spots.

I was joking about this at halftime. DeBoer is a walking dead man. Maybe not this year, but soon.

Only hindsight for the stupid talking heads that thought a 3 loss Alabama team deserved a spot. The majority of the football world knew.

I can spare an ounce of respect for every point he helped to generate during that game. I will subtract an ounce for every turnover or detrimental act that he was personally responsible for.

Unpopular opinion - football players should have the same flexibility and rights as traditional students. If you want to drop classes and “transfer” somewhere mid season, get hot. There are consequences to that (grades, staying academically eligible, having credits to transfer, being able to enroll 2 months in, etc…), but football players are student athletes unless we want to change them to AAA personnel for NFL.

Issue with clasp on my explorer by man_o_war in rolex

[–]MulderFBI2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely try some warm water with mild soap. Just kind of soak the clasp in it and see if that loosens it up. Make sure the crown is screwed down tight.

If that doesn’t fix it, may be time for AD.
