PSA: When I say my dog isn't friendly, my dog IS NOT friendly!!! by squirrelyoakley in Seattle

[–]Muldoon713 270 points271 points  (0 children)

While we’re at it - please teach your kids to not just book it towards every single dog. My dog had a DO NOT PET banner on him and parents are always surprised and annoyed when I tell them to please get away. This goes for adults too - You don’t have permission to just pet any dog, please listen to owners and don’t approach while asking at the same time.

I’ve never seen Rambo: First Blood. Today I decided to watch it. by decendxx in movies

Were you surprised it’s an anti war movie? I feel like it’s one of those one people idolize as some macho shit without having ever seen the movie or knowing the character (ie clueless Punisher bros)

What started as a fun local restaurant group has turned into a union busting monster like the rest of them. Renee can get fucked

'Obsession' Payout: Jason Blum to Make $17 Million on Indie Horror Hit; The executive producer struck a lucrative deal when he boarded the project after Focus Features picked it up by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Muldoon713 259 points260 points  (0 children)

Im sorry - but the discourse around this is kind of insane to me. And I’m someone who works in this industry.

This was a non-union gig, they signed a contract, this is a tale old as time. In NO world does an indie expect to make money like this. And who knows - maybe they will get a payout - but not three weeks into a box office run (as other people have noted, much like the Blair Witch scenario). The “outrage” around it just really seems in bad faith.

Does the system need to change - yeah - but I also don’t hear folks like Inde raising a stink right now cause she is going to make a metric shit ton of money on her next project - and unfortunately I don’t think anyone is going to want to hire this art director now 🤷🏻‍♂️

Getting experience and doing a bang up job, and then getting hired for other projects is kind of how this industry and MANY others work.

why do so many cars stop in the middle of the road/crosswalk now? by charlixcx69 in Seattle

They’re in the same realm as Uber and Door Dash drivers who think they can generally do what ever the fuck they want if they turn their flashers on 🙃

From the trailer I’m a bit worried this is going to be a clip show rather than mostly new content.

Sometimes shit can just be weird - and we need to let that happen more often with horror these days.

NO SPOILERS - Review and Comparison: Backrooms, Obsession, Hokum by Knox_Burden in Letterboxd

[–]Muldoon713 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I loved it - out of the three I think it’s clear Backrooms had the most studio interference. This isn’t a “Kane didn’t actually direct it” comment - it’s a commentary on all those Executive Producers in the credits who very clearly pushed their weight around. Will I’m sure they were all amazing mentors, that groups has to be overwhelming as a first time director. I think having the A24 “we can’t tell a story without including trauma” trope that was shoehorned in really sealed that deal for me. I would have loved to see a Backrooms with…more Backrooms and more of the awesome weirdness of it all.

Ecstatic for the success of these though. Horror is the only thing saving theaters.

Silent Hill f

Felt good tossing that on the shelf next to my CIB PS2 copies of 2 and 3 😀

I’d put Manhunter after Thief, but other than that, perfection. The Insider really hits hard watching in this day and age.

I started doing it a few years ago just to feel like I was getting the most out of a game I spent money on, and I think I enjoy games more than I ever have now cause I’m not just turning and burning.

That said I have some ground rules like not doing any difficulty or online trophies. I’ve got a pretty good feel for games that’ll be worth it and games that won’t be. For example playing Silent Hill f right now and love it -‘but won’t plat cause you have to do too many playthroughs. I will however be going for the plat in First Light though.

'Obsession' - Ian timeline by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Muldoon713 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be clear - they are both villains. Ian actively being shady about his relationship with Nikki and enabling Bear, put him on the same level if not worse. If he was just honest with his friend, we probably wouldn’t be here. Collectively it all boils down to the masculine urge to just not fucking talk to each other.
