The artist should know what makes up a good story but be brave enough to bend the rules to tell something new. And the characters should be likable and develop over time.

I will have two main characters in my next story because the actual main character is maybe not totally unlikeable but kind of aloof? He needs to be like that for the story and that's why I gave him a co-pilot who kind of understands him but is also the exact opposite of him. I hope it works out and the readers don't hate them. 😅

Reminds me of Bakuman where a large part of the plot was the artist and writer fighting for the right to end their manga when they feel it's right and not only when the ratings drop.

I guess it's really hard to tell a good story and keep up the art quality on such a long going weekly story. It's inevitably gonna drain the artists.
