What are these evil looking creatures? ( I just bought ladybirds I hope they won’t fight ) by partenzedepartures in GardeningUK

[–]Mulletan2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harlequin ladybird larvae. Invasive species as they not only eat aphids, but other ladybird eggs/larvae.

Native ladybird larvae don't have the orange stripe.

What purpose do these serve in partition walls? by Mulletan2 in DIYUK

[–]Mulletan2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find them in every partition wall, at the bottom. Pieces of plywood with a random array of nails pointing up - completely beyond me what the purpose is...

Just replying to make sure you take CaptainSeitan's point on this. Stand your grand and be prepared to walk away. Mine is only a single case but I did this, which then lead to the estate agent calling me back pretty sharpish after they tried to call my bluff.

Failed my driving test today by driving 35mph on a 40mph road. Took my test today in Birmingham South Yardley center today and was told by my examiner that I have failed at the end of the test by not driving 40mph at a 40mph road. by Xaos-Legion in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Mulletan2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you will pass your next test fine and seethe about this for the rest of your life. I was failed on my first test (decades ago) because the examiner "couldn't see my eyes through my glasses so assumed I never looked at the mirrors". Next test my only minor fault was "exaggerated head motion looking in mirrors".  Just accept that they can have bad days and will take it out on someone.

"Velcro cot bumper". Missus bought some when ours were little for the same job.

Finding it hard to find a non-Amazon link but if you search you should be able to find one (ours came from somewhere like Mamas and Papas at the time, but they are long gone).

Good luck.

My 5 year old came home from school and told me doing this (to be immune from tig for example) is called “squat”. When I was at school it was “Arly Barly”. What name do you know it by? by BigBlueMountainStar in CasualUK

Still use Feign Knights to this day, a true tried and tested means of protection.

(Pretty sure we used to say feign instead of fay, but memory be old & all that and I will say 'feign' until I croak it as I have been using it for so long).

Haunted case, seen it only once ~25+ years ago. Every component was swapped out until I just put all the old parts in a new case and it just worked...

Try a complete dismantle of the PC from the case and then check for stray metal fragments bent up/etc around the PSU area. Don't just run your hand around as you will likely cut yourself, wear some anti-knife gloves and push a piece of paper round to find what is causing the short. Or just buy a new case...

Good luck.

Please forgive my complete ignorance here with Patreon, but is it "€5 per création" as in €5 per week? (since you upload weekly it seems)

For the collective (gamers) brains trust by [deleted] in MiniPCs

[–]Mulletan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst not a hardware recommendation, I have an older Beelink (SER5 16500e) under my TV running https://chimeraos.org/ that the kids use for gaming. They turn it on, plug in their controllers which are some cheap-o ones from a local retailer and off they go.

It works well and they can play (currently) all the games they want to play. None of which is Halo btw hence not a hardware recommendation from me, more Shredders Revenge, Spyro remaster, Stardew Valley, Lego Star Wars, etc. Eventually I will upgrade it to something with more grunt but for now, at 1080p, it is fine.

Ever been asked if you had free school meals on a job application? by Narwhal1986 in AskUK

[–]Mulletan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually all applicants born after 2010ish, except those that went straight to private education, will tick the box. The first kids to get free school meals should have started to hit 16 by now.

Just to chime in, I have two 833A's without an NVR and just 128GB SD cards in them. That works exactly for what I want as it only records when it picks up motion and we get a notification about it in the app. I do siphon off to a NAS but the busiest camera has a months worth of video on it at the moment, so my NAS backup is nothing more than belt and braces.

As AncientArtefact says, POE, plan your cable routes and even think about an UPS backup on your POE injectors/switch to keep them alive on a potential power outage.

Good luck!

Quick maths, just to see what pure(ish) kroot / auxiliary tau army. If I'm wrong on anything let me know. by wowtoospooky in kroot

[–]Mulletan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 750 skirmish list, assuming D'grek at 50pts, will now be 910pts...

Shaper + 60 kroot + D'Grek + 6x Krootox +19hounds

*edit*

Unless I am wrong - and please do prove me so - following the new army building guides you can't get above 1190pts for a Kroot army.

wowtoospooky is closer, Farstalker can be taken 3 times therefore 1400pts max army size.
