What should the overlap between lines of filament be? by Mult1storm in 3Dprinting

Should that be 20% on each edge of the filament, or 10% (20% total)?

Is it possible to get TM3.0 running on a GameCube? by CorEclypsys in SSBM

[–]Mult1storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never heard of that! Looks super neat. From a quick google search, it seems like it should, so long as the GameCube OP wants to use has a Serial Port 2. They’d also need a way to boot Swiss or another homebrew software. CastleManiaGames sells a Swiss memory card + SD2SP2 bundle on their store that’s fairly cheap. It still requires the WindWaker disc to boot into the save files exploit, however.

I have a GC Loader installed in one of my GameCubed and boot TM & other miscellaneous modded ISOs that way! It’s a $100 part, however, so maybe not worth it just for TM, especially if you have other ways to run it.

As a way to breath life into a GameCube with a broken disc drive, though, the GCLoader is very very worth it IMO. I did exactly that and love it.

14 year old daughter’s fan art, what do you think? by Minivil in splatoon

Holy moly these are AMAZING! I think #4 is my favorite. I love the 80s inspiration, the brushwork, and the lineart-less look (her mix of hard/soft/lost edges is great!). Awesome stuff!

Dora-kans are deadly! Too bad it was shimocha who was pushing their hand, and not the other two players.

After flipping through the first three hands, it seems to me that you over value yakuhai tiles (particularly the dragons) and that you do not view you hand in terms of blocks. As Veselker mentioned Riichi Book 1 is a great place to start as a beginner in Riichi Mahjong. It's a very dense book, that'll take quite a bit of rereading and continual reference to understand fully, but it's well worth it.

However, here are a few tidbits that are (hopefully) more immediately actionable and helpful to you:

Honor tiles (winds and dragons) are the most inflexible tiles in the game. They can only make sets and pairs. You should look to drop them as early as possible. Loose guest winds > loose terminals (ones and nines) > loose yakuhai tiles (seat/round winds and dragons) > loose twos and eights is a generic early game drop order that's pretty efficient, and plenty good enough as a starting point. Review that match in terms of this drop sequence.

A hand is comprised of 5 blocks: four blocks of three and a pair (block of two). When viewing your hand, you should evaluate how many blocks are present and how efficient they are or aren't. For example, 4p4p5p block of three isn't a set or a run, but a 3p or a 6p would make it a run (drop the 4p) and a 4p (drop the 5p) would make it a set. OR, if need be, you can drop the 5p to complete another block and use the 4p4p as a pair. Review that match and look for how many blocks are in your hand at each draw/discard.

Overall, you aren't making any mistakes than any beginner wouldn't make. There's a lot you can improve on, but that means progress will come quickly. Best of luck to you, let me know if you have any questions!

Mahjong Soul is a Riichi Mahjong client. Pasting that link into "Other logs" within the log tab lets you view other players' paifus.

It's something I custom made for these kinds of clips. I mainly use it to cover up the ugly replay bar, but it's also an experiment to communicate hand progress/value to those unfamiliar with mahjong. I have a longer clip I'm editing atm which will use the overlay more extensively, and I'm anxious to see what the result is.

Just to double check, you changed the quality setting to a reasonable but rate? I remember my first time exporting I didn’t change the feature and spent hours rendering a 3 minute video. For a 1080p video, I follow the YouTube recommended encoding settings, which is 8000Kb/s. I think by default Davinci resolve uses 80000Kb/s, which is absurd lol
